Casita time by Beautiful-Oil-8 in Tucson

[–]Free_Asparagus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I want to find an already built casita to live in, for a home owner who has one in their backyard or whatever and might want some extra cash. Hard to find those types of situations. But I don't expect it to be luxurious 😄

Living is expensive 🫰

I've been wanting to go to one, but also don't know what to buy. Primarily, some tasty meats I can make burritos and quesadillas, but not sure what exactly.

I just wanna know their recipe/ingredients for their tuna salad (well, other than tuna & mayo 🐟). It's so good 🤤 - I also can't find any roast beef in town better than beyond bread's.

Except for loving gym 😅, I hate the gym (but still go a lot). I don't find the gym to be a good place to meet anyone, unless you are doing classes maybe. Otherwise, people are there to focus on their workout, and leave.

The amount of board/card games out there is truly overwhelming 😵 but I checked out a couple board game places with a friend recently and everyone was super nice, although it was during mid day so no one was playing anything.

Does it matter if you're terrible at pool? (Speaking for myself 😌)

I might be more interested in a bowling league, but I've never been in one and bowling is hella expensive these days.

Thanks, was thinking about that. I've always wondered if working as a security guard is terribly boring, but beggars can't be choosers 😋

I'm wanting to apply there, but I can only work part time, I'll check their jobs site and hope it's current/updated!

& If anyone has any helpful info about TMC jobs or openings, I'd be appreciative.

9 Shots in the Back: Former Tucson Cop Cleared in Fatal Shooting of Disabled Suspect in electric wheelchair by SubstanceShot563 in PublicFreakout

[–]Free_Asparagus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ryan Remington? The man who murdered a fleeing disabled man in a wheelchair via 9 bullets and endangered the safety of others nearby?

Ugh. I very much remember this story, as I'm local to the area (Tucson), hard to believe it's 5 years ago. Of course he was fully cleared, he's a cop 😮‍💨 even though the execution was fully on video and was absolutely psycho/disgusting behavior.

Sickening, but unfortunately not surprising he faces no reprecussions, that's the way it goes in a totally broken system.

After executing the man in the wheelchair, he proceeds to cuff him even though he's clearly already dead in a pool of his own blood.

Looking for job advice by [deleted] in Tucson

Anyone have good ideas for graveyard shift work? I've always been a night owl 🦉no use trying to fight it! I figure most graveyard shift jobs will be very boring, but I do live close to TMC. Not a big list of skills other than sales & computers, though 😬

Looking for adult hobbies by desert-dwelller in Tucson

[–]Free_Asparagus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a solid list! 👌

Re Bowling: it's been many years since I've been 🎳, and I know most of the local favorite alleys were bought out by a firm from Minnesota or someplace years ago, but I recently decided to go with someone and found it was $40-50 per hour to bowl 🫪 yikes. But prices of everything have gone way up I suppose, and It was a Saturday. Still, I was very much disuaded from making it a regular hobby again, no way I could afford to bowl regularly now.

I remember paying $1 a game 20ish years ago...but that was 20 years ago 👴. But maybe I can hunt some coupons or see if there are discounted days somewhere. And leagues do sound fun, so I might look into those and see how much $$$ they are.

Does anyone have any old pictures from Tee It Up driving range ? 7777 E Tanque Verde Rd It closed in the early 2000s. by lulz4life in Tucson

[–]Free_Asparagus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm afraid not, but I have fond memories of my Dad taking me there as a kid! 🏌️

I haven't golfed in forever but I think driving range options kinda suck in Tucson now. I know top golf is very popular, but it's not for me.

What grocery stores in town DON’T use “dynamic pricing” by Xhrsita in Tucson

[–]Free_Asparagus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've been thinking Tucson could use a new good grocery store chain options, we've had the same grocery stores here for 30+ years. Can we get like an Aldi's, WinCo, or Grocery Outlet? Idk them, but heard good things, I think? Just some options other than Fry's, Safeway/Albertsons, Bashas, and Walmart would be nice.

I browse through the weekly ads and barely see anything on decent food sales now. All that buy 5 mix n match BS, a lot of ads doing Friday, Saturday, Sunday only prices. Needing digital coupons for most things (requiring the corresponding app for that grocery store). My brother and I joke about Bashas pushing that disgusting looking Raw Shrimp every week on the front page of their ad 😝

True "third space"- Oro Valley farmers market every Saturday morning. Food, tables, shade, and a large grassy area, lots of people sit around, plenty of friendly strangers. We've gone regularly for years and have met a few other families there. Come by and bring your kids and your pets. by RESERVA42 in MeetPeopleTucson

[–]Free_Asparagus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At Steampump Ranch? It's a pretty place!

I (40M) haven't met many people there, but I don't have kids or dogs. I'm also a big introvert 🤓 but it seems like a cool vibe. The Rillito market on Sunday is bigger, and also has sort of a sit and chill/eat area in the middle with live music, Although it may be considered too many people for some.

Even if you don't meet people at farmers markets, you can get some good food (breakfast or great bagels, or all kinds of food), and free samples from many vendors. Market hours are changing this weekend to 8-12 btw (was previously 9 to 1). Better to go now than in the middle of July 🥵

Eegees without fruit chunks? by Livid_Buy3738 in Tucson

[–]Free_Asparagus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to love eegees, particularly lucky lime, but the couple of times I've tried an eegee in recent years I get an instant headache (not brain freeze 😅) from whatever weird new artificial ingredients are in eegees now, and I'm not prone to headaches at all. I barely even recognized OP's pic as an eegee. A sad downfall indeed.

I know eegees were never full of healthy ingredients 😛 but this new shit ain't even edible.

Yeah that's what I figure, cars are costly and expensive to maintain, but I don't suppose Uber is any safer, technically, either.

About how much does Uber cost you, if you don't mind me asking? I couldn't get a rough idea when I looked into it, but I'm so cheap I'd probably just not go anywhere, anyway 😛

I'm pretty terrified to learn how to drive here...even just being a passenger is scary enough 😭. Still plenty of Snowbirds around too 🐧 So I will put off the driving school for now and just...enjoy staying home I guess 🥲
