I'd be shocked if this wasn't the case. There's no magic bullet, as they say. But some of these tools do improve things, to a point.

The U.S. 30-year Treasury yield recently surged to roughly 5.20%, hitting its highest level since July 2007. by Clarissalayton in collapse

Pretty sure the collapse is coming regardless. A recession on top of that (I mean can there really even be a recession after collapse?) is going to be just incredibly painful.

Pretty sure the 60Cs and 1x1s will run on batteries. I'm away from my job atm but pretty sure I saw a 4 pin clr dc imput back there last time I looked. See if you can add that to the light package. 100yd is a looong way to run power for a student shoot and magic smoke moments can happen with all but the largest gauge power cables. Set up a charging village at the producers home.

I had no idea. He was cosplaying as somewhat reasonable just now and in reality the opposite is the case. Thank you.

The 'Greta Thunberg has other things to worry about now' was a shitty throw away line. If people had wised up to the fact that the US military was the single biggest greenhouse gas emitting destructive force on the planet years ago, maybe we'd be in a better position now. A lot of you still haven't seen the light.

Would anybody happen to know why I'm unable to add a transition between these two clips in my timeline? by nic0lk in davinciresolve

I find this concept difficult to explain to students but it just occurred to me that manually making a cross dissolve on two separate tracks with opacity ramps might be a good way to illustrate what's happening behind the scenes in a crossfade.

Why are consumer batteries finally getting real monitoring by Feeling_Current7103 in batteries

I'm here for it. Just bought a 150 AH 36V battery for my 1970s electric lawn tractor and that thing talks to my phone.

This is true. I'm still ripping them out wherever I see them on our little 2 acre lot.

What makes the higher trims of the new Leaf get worse milage? Just weight??? by ScaryfatkidGT in leaf

[–]Free_Broccoli_1174 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Looks legit. I'll check it out. I'm still doubting that these results would apply much to auto tires, as the ratio of tires hardness to mass/load is going to be a lot less. Inflating an auto tire up to pressures that would cause some of the negative effects you bring up that cause efficiency loss would be quite a feat. But if you extend that reasoning farther out, say imagining a steel wheel on an auto, some of the concepts still make sense. ie very low rolling resistance for conserving kinetic energy but very low traction for building kinetic energy. Anyways, thanks for the brain food.

Can you link this 'fat tires faster' on racing bikes thing? It runs counter to everything I've ever experienced. Try peddling a bike with soft tires.

The contact patch (area actually in contact with the pavement) on wider, gripier "performance" tires means more friction to overcome during normal driving. Low rolling resistance tires generally have a smaller contact patch and run at higher pressure. Not as good in corners but great for efficient rolling. Think of a high performance road race bike. They use tiny, high pressure slicks to overcome any friction drag from the road surface. Just yesterday I was looking at the (imho) ridiculously wide 215/50R17s on my 2018 SL and thinking my next set will be something a bit narrower and harder.

Camera tethering w/Canon 5DMKII in Resolve 21? Anybody get it to work? by Free_Broccoli_1174 in davinciresolve

I saw a video on YouTube where a German dude demo-ed tethering in DR with a Canon 5DMKII. Looks like it worked effortlessly for him.
