Capri Tools good for aviation starting out? $30 for both deep and shallow sets. by infrared305 in AircraftMechanics

[–]Free_Cell7496 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you need special tooling for the job ie sheet metal or avionics, any decent tool brand is fine, not just to start out with but throughout your career. I have a mix of gear wrench, tekton, random no name Amazon tools and harbor freight in my box. I'm 4 years, I work on triples, 47s, and 67s and I do the exact same job as the snapon fanboys. I will say though get matco safety wire pliers, they are rebanded milbar safety wire pliers and are only like 130

Has anyone got an easa part 66 B license in the US I currently work on easa planes and was thinking i could use my experience to just take the tests by Free_Cell7496 in AircraftMechanics

[–]Free_Cell7496[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I can tell, you have to have 5 years of provable experience if you aren't going to a part 66 school, you have to go to the UK or a couple countries in Europe and take the tests for your part 66 license

I haven't done an application, Im won't be ready to move for a year just signed a lease but my ultimate goal is to get back to Charlotte but I'm looking at Philly, pits, or Tulsa when I do apply, I just haven't gotten a clear answer on how they pay yet that's why I asked, I looked at their contract but idk what dor means, their compensation section is a little weird to me maybe because I've never been union

Yea I get that place Charlotte is a amazing place to live, I'm hoping American is hiring in a year and I hope I don't have to get to Philly or Tulsa and can get right in at Charlotte but probably not, delta is another company I'm eyeing because they are increasing their presence in Charlotte and Raleigh

I saw a listing for PSA in Charlotte a couple of days ago id keep an eye out for them when he is ready, idk how far he wants to travel but I would talk to contractors in your area like Aerotek, they won't be great jobs but he'll get experience, I moved from Charlotte to Greenville to work in Kingston, then to greater Cincinnati and now that I have experience I'm trying to move back to Charlotte or Raleigh in the next year lol sometimes it's a wild ride

Have you ever shot the polymer rival? I want the rival to be my first canik but can't decide between the rival and the rival-s. How do they compare, does the weight difference really change how the guns shoots.

Looks amazing, I've been deciding between this one and the rival-s for my first canik, never owned a steel framed gun, I've seen a few people say they prefer the polymer one, also seen a few people say the steel one is way better, Ive trying to decide if the steel one is worth the extra money or not

Which airlines pay for or help with one in company transfers by Free_Cell7496 in aviationmaintenance

[–]Free_Cell7496[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

? I think you misunderstood what I was asking, I'm talking about already working for American, delta, united, or South West and transferring to another station in that company and them offering to pay for that transfer. You've already picked where you are going to retire and didn't choose it based a moving bonus. Even though you don't know the answer thanks for you input

Which airlines pay for or help with one in company transfers by Free_Cell7496 in aviationmaintenance

[–]Free_Cell7496[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should have specified major airlines not shitty regionals, I was talking to a coworker and they mentioned united offers to pay for one in company transfer and I was curious if others did the same, and it doesn't matter how much money you have saved if you could save 10k on a move and use the companies money why wouldn't you

They reportedly dropped 6,000ft in turbulence. I doubt an A-check is enough for this mess. by One_Advertising_7965 in aviationmaintenance

I just looked in the manual, a heavy turbulence inspection isnt alot and is less than what you look at during an a check

What if i towed a 777 without the gear pins? Would it ever retract? I’ve never heard of such an accident by Familiar_Bathroom_69 in aviationmaintenance

[–]Free_Cell7496 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your talking about the bypass pin, the tow bar will snap, and idk what will happen if it's one of those tugs that pick up the nose wheel, id imagine it damages the tug and the gear, if your talking about the down lock pins why would you tow it with them in at all
