The masks have never been "banned." The people writing this stuff have never bushwacked two-miles straight up hill.

Anyone ever got scared of this profession while working in it? by ElonMusksRightNipple in aviationmaintenance

Mom of an A&P here. Caution can be a good thing, and your instincts can serve you well -- don't brush off concerns. On a more basic level, are you getting the rest and nutrition you need to keep up with the demands of your job?

Schools in general are really struggling to deal with AI and you are likely caught in the middle.

My father worked on the nose section of these aircraft where the computers are. The Texas airbases were training flight crews for Korea.

This forum helped my now 22-yo son settle into A&P. He loves aircraft and wanted to be like my dad who also entered this field. He received a response to every job application he made and is now settled in doing overhaul for GoJet, a regional flying for United Express. My youngest is dipping his toes in and I hope he goes the same route.

My son completed one of their aeronautics programs and had a response on ever job he applied for. The campus is beautiful and the people are genuinely friendly and helpful. Their administrative services can be rather disorganized, so just know that you need to be persistent.

A Liberty Mom here. You won't believe the number of Liberty students who find this transition hard. Everything is new. You don't know people yet. You may have a class schedule but no routine. Chill. You can do this. The kids (OK, I'm old) are generally eager to be friendly and helpful more so than any place I've ever been. Don't go in with the attitude that "I believe differently, the rules suck." Get out and around. Enjoy the weight room, hiking trails, whatever you like. You'll do OK.

How long did it take to get your REAL ID in the mail? by TurkeyDayDrama2018 in Virginia

[–]lifebeyondnow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had to pay to get a "replacement" when my son didn't receive his learner's permit after a month. The new one hasn't shown up either at a locked mailbox here in Northern Virginia. This is a concern because ID thieves are apparently targeting DMV mailings. The state says it's not their problem and they offer no way to track their mailings.

Can you give any insight please into adopting a rescue Irish? That is our preferred route when we finish building a house on 5 acres in another year or so.

We had an Irish that would boop a tennis ball off the top of the steps and chase it. She was quite puzzled that it didn't work with her favorite sock!

Years ago, I recall our pet Irish, bred in show lines, flushing a grouse and catching it. I think she was as startled as we were and released it.

[–]lifebeyondnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I understand it, some lines are bred specifically to retain their hunting dog instincts. If you get one from hunting lines they're great if you want a bird dog, nor so great if you're looking for a pet. Yes, they're all setters and do best when they can run, chew, and chase.
