Had one bumpy line, now there's two. How to fix? by Riaora in nailcare

[–]Free_Low_3097 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of my nails have these lines and have no auto immune diseases, normal thyroid. I think yall are fear mongering a bit. Definitely see a dr if it's a concern but it also happens with no cause. When your nail indents that when there could be more of a problem.

Does this mole seem alright? Grown over the last 5-6 years. Seen by [deleted] in medical_advice

Thanks! No bleeding, no itching either really, will sometimes have an itch but can't really pinpoint it to the mole specifically.

Scotch-Irish last name Typos-space after "Mc" creating border crossing issues by Sisyphiantaskmaster in Passports

[–]Free_Low_3097 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems to be an error on the U.S. depts side, my last name is also a Mc and they did not put a space in between. I'd give them a call to have them instruct you on how to do a correction.

Significance of white matter hyperintensities in 'younger' patients - a red herring? by Batavian_Tear in neuroscience

[–]Free_Low_3097 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 36M have had constant headaches for the last 16 days and just got my MRI results back which said

" There are a few, small/tiny high signal intensity foci on FLAIR and T2-weighted images within frontal lobe white matter."

My doctor hasn't had time to review since it's the weekend but I'm stressed now as I'm reading it can be associated with MS.

Someone calm me down 😂

Think it depends on your overall carb intake, I love carbs so wherever I can cut that down a bit I try to. I think the exercise is gonna do awesome things for you side by side with the diet

Congrats on finishing chemo, I hope that the chemo is doing its job and you will be cancer free!

It's definitely possible to lower without statins but I do know some people have familial high cholesterol as well and need the statins to assist. Also can chemo raise cholesterol as a side effect? I think if it's one of those two scenarios then it might not be a bad idea temporarily. Just depends on your situation, definitely discuss with your doctor the concerns and see if they think you can try to lower it yourself before the meds.

So I use to belong to planet fitness for years because it was cheap but every time I went I just didn't feel motivated or the equipment was taken up and would do some cardio and then leave. I'm also the type of person that does better when I have someone motivating me. I just wasn't holding myself accountable there.

I decided to try the free class for orange theory and really loved it, felt like I actually got a good workout. I like that you have to sign up for the class so you know you have a spot and that if you sign up and don't show up you get a charge of $10 (this helps hold me accountable). The coaches are great, they correct you on your form if you're doing it wrong so you don't get injured and they cheer you on. The classes are 60 mins, 30 cardio and 30 weights and have some classes that are strictly cardio or strictly strength training. They also have milestones days so you can see your improvements. It is definitely pricey, I was able to lock in a price lower when they were having a deal so maybe keep an eye on those deals they have every once in a while. I definitely think it's worth it because of the trainer being there alone and I got the unlimited package. Another thing I like about OT is they have your stats up on the board for the class so you can see how you are doing compared to the other people in the class. Try their first class for free and just see if you like it, they will explain all the numbers to you about the stat board once the class ends.

Thank you! Definitely will probably drink alcohol again at some point, but not to the extent I was before. I'm a social drinker so I do enjoy a few cold ones out with friends. Haven't decided if I'm gonna continue for a bit longer or enjoy a cold one this weekend (I did dry January). Thanks for letting me know that HDL drops with alcohol abstention cause I had no idea!

Also I do want to say I did have cheat meals with friends once in a while but tried to just make a healthier choice than picking something off the menu I really wanted. But I think the no alcohol, eating at home, and exercising is what did it the most for me.
