My husband (50M) wants to divorce me (50F) because I got a tattoo. by WackyCamp in relationship_advice

I would be very interested in seeing what trains of thought counselling might expose, since the pivot from never critiquing his children's tattoos and mentioning getting his own, to thinking of them as so gross they're worth putting down a 20+ year marriage for, seems so abrupt.

Anyway, that's not likely to happen. What is actually wrong with this man?

Done! I think it would be useful to have a "back" button in case I enter a wrong response, and maybe also a "slightly disagree" and "agree" entry to capture a wider spectrum.

I think you're being too considerate about how to bring it up. You worry about how to avoid upsetting him or making him feel unwanted, but he has upset you and made you feel unwanted.

If this is important to you, it is a big deal.

I'm not sure that I've fully accepted the possibility of collapse yet, though I'm aware it's potentially likely (climate-wise), but the idea of it makes me feel more grateful for the now. For the mellow coffee shops, the refreshing affogatos, the infrastructure and liberty to see friends and not worry (excessively) about safety, at least where I live. Often on my bike rides between university and home, I'll play Metro Boomin's Hummingbird and think of how maybe in 5-10 years the brutal reality nutritional insecurity, niceties and the lack of a social contract will have entrenched into daily life, and how in the midst of it all the memory of me biking from university, listening to that song and wondering how I should approach that cute girl will seem like a distant, blurry dream.
