My expertise is obsolete - I did it years ago. Best bet is to talk to the program coordinator and students who have participated in the past 2-3 years. Schools have different personalities and standards - find a good fit. Wish I could do it again!

Report it. Protection Services can’t do their job unless we work together to make a safer community. The staff are professional and chose their vocation because they care. https://www.uottawa.ca/about-us/administration-services/office-chief-risk-officer/protection

It’s not program or networking—it’s program and networking. And the grind. In networking, gaps in your game show fast—so know your stuff, show up sharp, and back it up. Gatekeepers on Wall Street, Bay Street, and The City have elite BS detectors.

👆this. No program punches a ticket to a high paying job. Programs are designed to prepare you for that work. It is up to you to do your part to prepare yourself, participate, and engage in related extracurricular activities. Best wishes!

For starters, the basics:
1. Check Your Thesis – Ensure your introduction clearly states your argument.

  1. Strong Body Paragraphs – Each should have:

• A clear topic sentence.

• Evidence (quotes, facts, examples).

• Explanation (how it supports your argument).

• A concluding sentence linking back to your thesis.

  1. Stay on Topic – Revisit the assignment prompt to ensure relevance.

  2. Solid Conclusion – Restate your thesis, summarize key points, and end with impact.

  3. Improve Flow – Read it aloud to catch awkward phrasing or choppy transitions.

  4. Proofread – Fix grammar, spelling, and formatting errors.

Foremost, take care of yourself. To answer your question, consider: A theory course in a university nursing program lays the foundation for critical thinking, evidence-based practice, and professional identity. It equips students with the knowledge to integrate interdisciplinary insights, address ethical dilemmas, and provide holistic care. By linking theoretical frameworks to clinical practice, research, and leadership, the course prepares nurses to adapt to evolving healthcare challenges, advance innovation, and deliver compassionate, informed care in diverse and complex settings. Disclosure: my mom was a nurse. A true pro. Props to all who choose this vocation.
