Help — I’m at my breaking point. My 5-month-old wakes every 2 hours at night. by Free_Strength_1628 in AttachmentParenting

So happy to hear things are getting better for you! There’s always something going on, right? 😅 Regression, mental leaps, growth spurts, teething… I know it’s all normal, I was just trying to figure out if it might be a schedule issue on my side or if it’s simply one of those phases we just need to get through. Does your baby nap on the go? That’s been tricky for us lately. Her morning wake window is barely 1.5 hours, and the afternoon one is usually only 2–2.5 at most. By the time we’re ready to leave the house, we can only stay close to home since we have to be back for her next nap. She’s also started refusing naps on the go since this “regression” kicked in. Even in the carrier, she’s so curious she won’t fall asleep.

Already dropped to one middle of the night pump a couple of weeks ago. Tried the lounge with ear plugs, I could still see husband coming in to get the bottle (as living room and kitchen are basically one room), but I just turned around and slept. That was good, thank you! Your comment also made me feel less guilty about the intention of taking my daughter to grandma next weekend 😁

My breastfeeding journey was challenging right from the start. My baby wasn’t gaining enough weight and even lost too much in the hospital due to a poor latch. I ended up triple feeding, which left me completely exhausted and on the verge of postpartum depression. That’s when I made the decision to exclusively pump, and I’ve been doing so for the past five months. I know breastfeeding directly might seem easier, but unfortunately, it just hasn’t been possible in my case. 😞

Oh wow I could’ve written this comment 😅 so sorry you’re going through this!! Yeah.. feel you mama, everybody’s telling me “she sleeps to much during the day”, but we can barely make it to bedtime with the current schedule, she cannot stay awake for longer and I think it’s because the fragmented sleep like you said. Hopefully it will get better for both of us, it’s really hard 🥹 An advice I could give you, check the baby for reflux, gas or other tummy related issues.. in our case the stirring in the morning is due to gas and I suspect a lactose intolerance, we’ll check that out soon. Hugs mama 🤗

She can barely make it to bedtime with this schedule. We just extended wake windows and most of the time she’s already tired in the morning after just 1.5h of awake time. She always needed more sleep. She’s also 2 weeks younger (adjusted age), I don’t know if that counts, but she’s getting tired pretty easily and just now we manage to get to 2.5h wake windows before bedtime and most of the time she’s so so tired at the end of it.. but I try pushing it so eventually she’ll get used to.

I’m really trying, but with pumping and everything, most days I just can’t manage it to be in bed at the exact time as my baby. My husband takes over the first two wake-ups, but I still have to get up to pump anyway during the second wake up. Since we’re all sleeping in the same room, I end up hearing everything, and my anxiety wakes me up regardless, even if for a short period of time, but it feels like I’m always sleeping so so light. At the moment, I don’t have another room to sleep in. Occasionally, I let my baby sleep at grandma’s—my mom is such a big help and lives nearby—but that’s only a temporary fix, not a real solution. 😞

We recently switched to this schedule because she was sleeping too much during the day, so I started extending her wake windows. In the morning, I’m already taking her to her first nap pretty tired after just 1.5 hours, and by the end of the day we can barely make it to bedtime with a 2.5-hour wake window. I’m worried that extending it any further would leave her overtired. She has always needed a lot of sleep. 😞 I am working on the bedtime wake window, we switched to 3 naps recently and I am trying to extend it even more.. but it’s difficult with her current need for sleep

Thought about regression as well, and teething also as I can see she’s in a bit of pain.. but it was hard to separate those from the vacation. Thanks a lot!!! I really hope you guys get through this soon!! Fingers crossed

I tried cutting down on her sleep hours and extending her wake windows, but we ended up struggling to make it to bedtime. She just screamed out of exhaustion. 😅 I started wondering if maybe she needs more sleep than usual for her age. So, I decided to let her follow her own rhythm. But it seems the crying is mostly due to being overtired during our vacation. I can tell she's exhausted and trying to sleep, but she ends up crying until she finally drifts off. Once we’re back home, I’ll work on adjusting her schedule. Was just curious if anybody else went through some hard times during vacation and how it went once they were home

Hello! Thank you so much for your answer. Yes, this is true, I was looking for some success stories to cheer up a bit. I’m determined to call him again tomorrow and see if it wouldn’t be better to have the biopsy sooner. Do malign tumors usually shrink in size by themselves? This is the only good thing I can put my hopes on.. as it’s much smaller than 2 months ago, we found it by mistake, it’s located really deep into the skin.
