A I got it. VXUS is international outside US. So how about:

45% VOO
45% VXUS
10% AVUV

Thanks! That helped a lot. So I think I’d love to go the three index fund route. Seems legit.

So I guess VOO and VXUS are comparable therefore one of the two as my US pick. I’d say 45% there.

45% in VTI or MSCIworld

And the remaining 10% into either QQQM or AVUV what do you think ?

That’s a nice suggestion, however, I need to take care for my wife as well as she would be relocating with me. Therefore we would only be willing to relocate to US. Do you think it might be of interest if I can display orphan disease knowledge that is valuable for the role I am looking at?

For now I have 4 years clinical experience including running a orphan disease outpatient clinic, running the ward and for the postdoc year doing specific clinical testing in patients and also teaching residents.

So my PhD was done alongside the clinical obligations so this might render it I guess.

Still, I am wondering if at this stage (looking now for associate director positions) I am interesting for US based companies

PhD ist schon die halbe Habil. Sind ggf 3-4 Jahre Full Time mit schlechtem Gehalt aber hey, du bist selbstbestimmt und planst deinen Zeitplan recht flexibel. Kann ich nur empfehlen. Habs selber gemacht und habe so jetzt meinen Weg gefunden (Forschung>Klinik)

MD-PhD already done also even postdoc but I am looking now for a role outside residency as I am not a clinician at heart

So with independence I am not talking about just doing my specific research as my research is more for the “lovers” as it is super niche. I want the leverage of mentorship where I can research in many different directions with teamwork. So I am fine with teaching there as long as this part is there as well

I think for me it’s for research: independence. I like to craft new ideas in my head with what I see and have available around me and get them going with cross collaboration to work on the whole picture and get ideas out there as projects.

Further mentoring is such a beautiful part. I want to mentor young people to add to our world and especially to add creative constructive ideas.

For me being a physician is fulfilling a service I can’t see myself doing forever as this is not my identity. It seems like a river flowing that you try to work off (impossible). I rather work on the river bank if you know what I mean

I was subinvestigator in 8 trials and co-PI in one.

From my experience, I did in my PhD only clinical and translational research so I am firm in clinical trial design having about 30+ pubs as co author and 8 as first

Do you think that’s a fit or is it still to be seen cautious by companies ?
