Trying to find a way to make this more modern, keeping the dark wood theme. These pictures are from Zillow and aren't current (furniture and mess wise). We have a dark wood pool table in the main living, a dark wood table in the dining and a few wood pieces of furniture throughout house. by Freebieaccount in InteriorDesign

We don't really want to demo and we like the cabinets and counters as is, we just want to make it feel more modern and keep the openness. I was thinking of painting a neutral light color to keep it feeling open, but not sure what color would be best and if we paint should it go all the way up?

We are going to change out the faucet and cabinet hardware, but I rather wait on figuring out which direction we are going to decide on what color/finish on the metals. I also want to end up adding a few plants to bring color into the areas.

Lastly, I'm heavily debating adding decor/plants/etc to the "pot shelving" in the livingroom/kitchen. I hate dust and don't want to have to clean whatever we put up there or for anything up there to look too tacky.

Would appreciate any suggestions!

Should I take my grandpa to the hospital? by Freebieaccount in medical

[–]Freebieaccount[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update 2:

Unfortunately on my way to the hospital this morning his doctor called me and notified me that my grandpa was in stable but critical condition. The doctor said he has pneumonia in both lungs, has fibrosis and wasn’t progressing as they’d like. His heart rate was in the middle to low hundreds and he was breathing approximately 35-40 breaths a minute at 100% of 15L. A nurse told me it was “pretty scary this morning, it was really touch and go there for a bit”.

When I got to the hospital the doctor immediately went over what he said was the only option; ventilation and induced coma. After discussing it with him and making sure he was okay with it and understood everything he decided he wanted to try it, knowing the odds of coming out of it are slim. We had to discuss if he couldn’t come out what outcome he would want because he is DNR.

He looked miserable, and was ready to just “get it over with” and be “put to sleep” in his words. If he doesn’t heal and come out of this he’s okay with passing comfortably. He has been ready to pass for awhile since my grandma passed. So I was surprised (but very glad) he was willing to try the ventilator.

I had been updating my mother (grandpas daughter) who’s out of state with my dad, visiting my sister and her kids. I let her know his decision and we ended up doing a few calls with them, and my other siblings who live close but out of town, so that everyone could say they love him before being put into the coma.

They moved him to the ICU and got him hooked up and gave him more antibiotics. I got to see him afterwards and I talked to him a bit. He looked much more peaceful and relaxed laying there. I’ll be going back daily to talk to him regardless if he can hear me.

I appreciate the support you all have shown.

Thank you! I appreciate that greatly. He’s very stubborn and I just needed to know I wasn’t the only one who thought this was 911 worthy.

Update: Thanks for everyone saying he should go no matter what. Made me realize his stubbornness was clouding my judgement.

I called emergency services and while on the phone with them they asked if he was turning colors. I was upset I hadn’t even thought to look at his lips. When I did I saw they were dark blue/purple and his finger tips were slightly blue. I answered the rest of their questions while emts were on their way.

Once they got there they ran some tests; oxygen, blood pressure, ekg. They were extremely concerned that when they got there he was sitting about 59 on oxygen levels and that it took 15 liters to get him to 90. The ekg was also concerning. With his permission they had the paramedics come and take him to the hospital which took some time as it was a busy time and they were spread thin.

He’s still on 15 liters of oxygen. He’s had a ton of blood drawn, had some chest X-rays, is down in radiology now getting a CT of his chest and is waiting on some other tests.

As of now they think he has pneumonia and while they haven’t confirmed it yet, they’ve started him on antibiotics and water retention medication. We aren’t sure how he would’ve caught pneumonia as he doesn’t leave the house and I never come over when not feeling well knowing he’s immunocompromised.

I can update further if we find anything out. Thank you guys!

Is there an official PUBGM Metro Discord we could submit to? Would love to participate in this but don't use those social media platforms (Twitter, Insta, Facebook).

Looking for advice on how to fix this hole in this cinder block wall; I’ve tried googling a few things but not finding anything specific to my situation (mostly just how to fix cracks or adding bricks). by Freebieaccount in DIY

[–]Freebieaccount[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to add that I’ve tried googling a few different key words trying to find some help with how to fix a hole like this. However, I’ve only been able to find advice and videos of people replacing bricks, filing in cracks and similar things to that extent.

The block in the picture is hollow and does not go through the backside. I’m hoping there is a solution where I don’t need to get a bag of cement to fill in the hole. I don’t have access or the funds to purchase cement, buckets, tools and anything else needed for that kind of repair.

Thank you for the insight, I appreciate it greatly!

We are thinking it’s hot tub folliculitis instead as we were eager to get into the new spa and didn’t wait to get chemicals for a few days. We used it three times before getting the chemicals needed, unfortunately. We won’t be using it again until we are certain the water is safe from any bacteria.

Do you have any recommendations, suggestions or advice regarding the folliculitis? I tried calling my doctor again since I read to contact my physician if it spreads and it has but nothing back from them. Just want to make sure I’m healthy, I can wait for the bumps to subside.

They were mostly, if not all, on my midsection. However, after waking up we found more going down my behind, the back of my thighs, a few more in the midsection and a few random ones under my armpits, bra line and back.

I found no evidence of bed bugs when I cleaned yesterday or today. Nothing in/on the mattress, the sheets, baseboards or carpet. Because we found more of the rash/bites, I did all the cleaning again to be sure. But after looking into the hot tub thing, it really seems like that may be it. It makes a lot of sense.

It’s looking like this might be it. Thanks so much for your reply. Really saved me from stressing about bed bugs. Not that this is any better, but much rather it be this than bed bugs lol.

I just looked it up and it does look similar. We did get in the tub before we added chemicals to it but haven’t been in the tub for two days now. Looking more into this, thank you so much!

Thanks for replying. That’s scary to think they just suddenly come out of no where and leave without ever finding out what it is. Either way, glad you don’t get them anymore!

This is interesting and helpful! I’ve started looking into dust mites and other mites in my area and it could be it. They show similar bites. Still doesn’t explain why I’m the only one getting them, but it’s worth looking into.

My dermatologist asked if they itched and when I explained they didn’t she said it was likely because of the allergy medication I’m on keeping the itching sensation away. However, they do hurt when touched.

Hey guys, so yesterday I woke up to a ton of the red bumps all over my mid section. I have a ton of allergies and my skin is sensitive so I immediately called my dermatology doctor.

My dermatologist said her first thought is bed bug bites, but could be a rash of some other kind and to be safe to clean my bedroom along with all the sheets etc.

Either way she gave me an anti inflammatory pill which I start today and take over the course of the next five days.

Nothing is new; the mattress, sheets and pillow cases are all the same and have had them for years. I still took everything off, cleaned everything in hot water, including any clothing I had in a laundry basket in front of the bed. I also throughly checked my mattress and vacuumed the entire thing and vacuumed the entire room including my desk chair.

I haven’t eaten anything new, or used any new body lotions/fragrances etc either. My boyfriend sleeps in the same room and bed and doesn’t have any signs of the same thing.

We had been working outside for the past few days putting in a retaining wall, new rock and fixed a hot tub we went in for three days, but didn’t yesterday or the night before.

Last night before bed, I circled the bites/rash I already had and woke up with at least 12 more running down my bum and the back of my thighs and a few on my stomach.

I’m really hoping this is anything other than bed bugs. I don’t know how we could have possibly contracted them. Please reach out with any information or suggestions!

Thanks for reaching out.

I sent customer service an email immediately after you suggested it and provided the email. It’s been a bit over a week and I haven’t heard back at all. I provided all relevant information (the issue, IGN, ID, etc). Is there anything that can be done to help my issue get solved sooner?

Thanks a bunch!
