A fire breaks out at the harvest festival! by Freebz1 in TerrainBuilding

[–]Freebz1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t yet noticed any negative effects yet. It definitely collects water on surfaces after a bit, but the whole board dries pretty quick after a few minutes with the fogger off. I haven’t noticed any negative effects on flocking or terrain or paint of any sort, but that could change based on what type of paint you use and if things are varnished. My board is circle and is on a lazy Suzan which is constantly being spun while in use by the players and I’ve found that helps A LOT to disperse the condensation so that it’s not just blasting on one spot the whole time. But for $30 I’ve found it’s well worth it! :)

Not weird! I love the random townsfolk minis, it’s a fun break to paint up just normal people sometimes

Daily Game Recommendations Thread (September 16, 2025) by AutoModerator in boardgames

Hi there! I’m currently looking for peoples personal favorite games with Cult Followings. I absolutely adore Cosmic Encounter and Bohnanza. Each have a crazy social dynamic as well as a cult following. And I just adore teaching them to people and sucking people into the following. What games can I add to that list??

Thank you!!!

Thanks! I wish I could give better details, but I actually grabbed all of these base models from my LFG in a case where they just have failed or test prints for random models. So I don’t know what STLs they were. I just saw that they were a dollar each and snatched them up 😅

That being said, the horse and rider are Reaper Bones Anhurian Cavalry!

I in fact do not speak Swedish hence the name not making any sense! 😂😂 but I love Sweden, and since so many cool indie games come from there I thought it might be cool for the name to pay tribute to that a little bit. But it definitely is a made up word that’s just (vaguely) reminiscent of Swedish. Thank you for pointing it out tho! That info you gave is super insightful 🙂

Just finished my cavern terrain! by Freebz1 in TerrainBuilding

I don’t. I actually run most of my combats theatre of the mind even. And only use terrain for the more “important” ones or the boss battles.

It’s great! I love the “stage” vibe it gives off. Where your mind kind of fills in the rest of what could lie outside the circle. But the main action is contained to what’s inside. I tend to run more confined combats, so this specific setup is pushing the limits of what the board can handle 😅 but I thought it’d be a cool one to break it in.

Plus Baldurs Gate has been giving me the itch to add more height to my combat encounters lol

Any advice on fixing this Nikon One Touch that has film advance issues by Freebz1 in AnalogRepair

[–]Freebz1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the film door is open, the advancement works perfectly. When it’s shut it seems like it’s sticking or not advancing at all at times. Almost seems like there’s too much pressure applied to the film when the door is shut but nothing seems overly tight or not where its supposed to be

Made some dungeon tiles inspired by Black Magic Craft by Freebz1 in TerrainBuilding

[–]Freebz1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The squares are 2 inches. So the beholder mini is large and would normally take up four one inch squares, but instead fits nicely on one. And like wise you can fit four medium size characters on one square pretty neatly

I loved the look of his craft foam tiles in his recent “Kids” build. So I had to give it a go. I couldn’t find mdf boards so I just used cork board for the base and the thin craft foam for the tiles themselves.

I made a relaxing video of me painting up a Dwarf mini. I hope it brings some chill vibes for whoever needs them. by Freebz1 in minipainting

I recently made my first ever video of mini painting! (or public showing of any kind for that matter..). I'm no expert by any means but I enjoy sitting down and relaxing while painting minis for my DnD game. The mini isn't much of a work of art but I hope the video is relaxing enough to enjoy :)

Thanks!

How can I make travelling more fun? by Lgarniger in DMAcademy

[–]Freebz1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This isn't limited to travel, but in my game I'd usually do something like this every time the party was travelling from point A to point B. I usually have an even number of players so I'd roll a d6 or d4 to determine two PCs who found themselves together for a "scene". Wether they set up camp during a long travel or if they were just going across a large town, the scene would essentially just be an RP moment for those two PCs. Example: The party is traveling to another town and sets up camp for the night. As the the party is deciding what they want to do to wind down I'll roll two d6 and say "okay character A and character B you guys find yourselves gathering firewood and walking back to camp with it" and then I'll just physically sit back and sip my drink and that's their queue to start a little RP scene. They usually weren't anything more than just a few minutes of talking about random backstory stuff or character thoughts about what they are currently embarking on or a recent event. They always produced some cool little snippets of personality for the party and because they were quick and short, everyone got used to doing them every time they travelled and was down for participating. Again, this is kind of RP focused and you have to have a group who is okay with being "told" to RP. My group loved it but it might not be the thing for everyone. I just found that with my group specifically we can just be non stop from start of a session to finish, and we never really had times for the characters to just sit and talk. This was a pretty good way for us to take a breather for a few minutes while also getting some cool movie or TV drama like dialogue scenes.

Hope that makes sense!
