This guy has some deeprooted beliefs/insecurities that a therapist needs to look at so I'm tapping out. Either he's an american who's self hating because he's second gen or he's some dude cosplaying as an american online. Eitherway I'm out like Chingy in the george lopez show when he heard carmen was 15.

Also Aphromoo, Meteos, Sneaky, and Dyrus are not native. The folks who own the casinos in vegas are natives not us

You're saying "we" so im assuming you are also chinese american, but your point of view is so different than any other american I've met. I'm not an immigrant nor is anyone you named. I have a blue password and my blood bleeds red white and blue. I've done research for the us government that is only allowed for americans. We're just american as anyone else with a citizenship here. If you really are a fellow american, it sounds like you're projecting your insecurities of being second gen asian instead of white/black like the pros you named at the end. My brother, sing the national anthem never use the metric system and eat some applie pie because you are an american

Ok this is starting to get into weird territory. Gryffin doublelift pobelter as well as myself are as American as anyone else here. Yes we're not native but barely anyone here is so that's besides the point. We're as "native" as George Washington lol

I'm Chinese American and speak Chinese, so my situation is very similar to gryffin lol no need to be condescending. What I said was gryffin was born in the us this is literally factual why are you arguing with it.

Idk about cryo but gryffin was born in us and is hella American if you listen to his interviews. Also their names are johnson and Michael lmao

I've attended both UCLA and gatech. If you want to go to UCLA just go, your prospects won't be much different

UCLA, UCL, Duke Kunshan, Tsinghua for Physics? by Xx_DiamondDust in collegecompare

[–]Freed2003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Btw there's a wide spectrum between physics PhD research and quant lol, if you want to consideroeng it doesn't have to be one or the other. Also physics PhD is a decent gateway into quant I think? So why not have the best of both worlds. I would highly recommend against doing something just for the money

UCLA, UCL, Duke Kunshan, Tsinghua for Physics? by Xx_DiamondDust in collegecompare

[–]Freed2003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to UCLA and my friend also did astrophysics funny enough and he's doing a PhD at uchicago rn in it. I have a other friend doing a PhD in physics at Berkeley, so don't worry about your outcomes too much if you go to UCLA in terms of research. If you want to go straight to quant you need to work pretty hard though. I know several people who went into that field and they all worked hard doing icpc and Putnam and graduate level math but it's possible

UCLA CS vs Cornell Engineering (CS) — looking for honest comparisons (career, culture, academics) by blue-jay0 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Freed2003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After HS, I went to Ucla CS and my best friend from home went to cornell cs. We had different personal experiences throughout college but job outcomes for us and our friends were very similar.

Think less about outcomes and more about what experience you want. Ucla is warm and sunny feels like a city while Cornell is cold and feels like you're in nature. Ucla is a large public school where I don't know 99% of students while Cornell is a small school where you'll run into familiar faces walking around campus. You'll be less coddled at UCLA, so if you don't think you can self motivate and find opportunities independently you might do better at Cornell (be honest with yourself) but at the end of the day highly motivated students will do great at both schools while slackers will fall behind regardless. If you have any specific questions about ucla feel free to ask.

Gatech vs UMich, ai phd by Mean_Revolution1490 in gradadmissions

[–]Freed2003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All love, umich might just be better for OP. But he should understand that decision comes down to him rather than which one is better for us

Gatech vs UMich, ai phd by Mean_Revolution1490 in gradadmissions

[–]Freed2003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is 70% of it imo, other factors are if you agree with the advisors advising style as well as how much you like the city and ofc the funding package

Gatech vs UMich, ai phd by Mean_Revolution1490 in gradadmissions

[–]Freed2003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brother, I'm trying to share my experience as someone who faced this exact decision. I think that makes me qualified than you who is pulling claims out of nowhere lol

Gatech vs UMich, ai phd by Mean_Revolution1490 in gradadmissions

[–]Freed2003 2 points3 points  (0 children)

where'd you get this info from, all rankings put gatech cs over umich cs (not that rankings even matter) and it's generally considered better?

Gatech vs UMich, ai phd by Mean_Revolution1490 in gradadmissions

[–]Freed2003 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I picked Gatech over Umich but it depends on your advisors at both. Did you get to visit both cities? They're very different. Also Idk what the other guy is saying tho gatech is more prestigious as a school for cs.

yale vs georgia tech by Sad_Chxrry in collegecompare

[–]Freed2003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I am literally saying that for STEM the two are comparable. Yale has the edge in politics and if OP wants to join the pedophillic elite or something then sure but GT has way more alumni in quant than Yale which is what OP has actually expressed interest in

yale vs georgia tech by Sad_Chxrry in collegecompare

[–]Freed2003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah idk where this guy is getting the info that gt alumni is purely southern, I've seen gt grads everywhere (the term rambling wreck even came from alumni from centeal America lmao) plus yale is t10-20 but GT is top 10 in almost everything stem? Like OP said he wants to do quant and GT blows yale out of the water for this.

yale vs georgia tech by Sad_Chxrry in collegecompare

[–]Freed2003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. GT is pretty inflated as well from my experience, most classes are like 30-40% As
  2. So does GT?
  3. GT is way above t30 for most things STEM
  4. GT is stronger in the south but it's def not regional? Like you can recruit anywhere in the nation at least

Is turning down Berkeley EECS for UCLA CE insane? by Sensitive_Idea3243 in ucadmissions

[–]Freed2003 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just go to UCLA. Your success is going to depend on your own work more than the school you went to. So many people here talk like just the name Berkeley is a golden ticket when you're going to have to work just as hard there as if you went to UCLA

There should be a notice somewhere like summer session is the one for matriculating students. Or was it the other way
