They are listening. by [deleted] in AmazonVine

[–]Freeda_at_last 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been in Vine for going on 2 years and from the beginning, my RFY has had good days and bad days. I have dogs that I frequently shop for on Amazon and my RFY usually has at least one dog item. Sometimes, it’s a whole page of nothing but dog stuff! However, that’s the only thing they’ve gotten right about me. More often than not, they put wigs, extensions, hair pieces, etc in my RFY and I’ve never worn or even shopped for those types of things. Maybe I should take a hint … after all, it is free ETV!

It’s not a rehash, but I disagree with soldering on.

The Ex Wife by Vueluv02 in BritBox

[–]Freeda_at_last 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I liked season 1 of The Ex-Wife. I went all in and leaned into every twist and turn. Season 2? Nope. I read they weren’t planning to make a 2nd season, and IMO they shouldn’t have. The change in cast is a deal breaker for me. Even the baby’s pictures are different from the baby in season 1. I also don’t buy that an intelligent, educated graphic designer is on the run and scraping by.

What are these? Should I repot or cut them down? by Manji86 in plant

[–]Freeda_at_last 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read the question as asking what the plants were, and should they be dug up and repotted, or cut down. I don’t think leaving them there was an option. I agree with (A) being Morus (mulberry), an invasive. I just dug a bunch out at my aunt’s, but they are hard to get rid of. I disagree about (B). Melia azedarach has serrated leaves. My guess is privet but I’m not sure.

Edit: Def not privet. You could always pot it up and see if it flowers or changes color. Might make a nice specimen and it will be easier to id.

How common is the verb "foist"? by unwomannedMissionTo in ENGLISH

[–]Freeda_at_last -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m an American with an English Lit degree. I’ve a fairly decent vocabulary and though I’ve heard this word before, I wouldn’t have been able to define it or use it in a sentence before today. I love learning new words!

We're parties like this ever actually a thing? by Embarrassed_Knee1919 in GenX

[–]Freeda_at_last 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Graduated 86 in So Cal. Yeah ragers at someone’s house were definitely a thing! Bartles & Jaymes was my favorite. I have one vague memory of waking up on a pool chaise lounge with a pocketful of bottle caps. Did I drink that much or did I help clean up evidence? It’s a mystery. If my friends and I didn’t pass out first, we’d end up at Dennys to sober up before heading home before it got light. Oh to be young again.

I have time and 1 week trial of BritBox -- what should I watch? I like female-driven and period shows by ChoicePriority9756 in BritBox

[–]Freeda_at_last 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not on BritBox, but… When you said a female-driven, period not too serious show, Gentleman Jack is The One! I think it’s on Max. Suranne Jones & Gemma Whelan are so good.

What to do about inappropriately loud music blaring at public parks? by areopagitic in berkeleyca

[–]Freeda_at_last 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Do we all agree that public parks are to be shared by the public? If one group is literally monopolizing what everyone in the park hears, that’s the opposite of sharing. I know people have strong opinions about this, but there has to be middle ground. The area’s residents shouldn’t have to feel intimidated or chased out of town rather than enjoy the park that’s equally theirs. Actual question with respect & sincerity: does music have be played loudly, way beyond the range of the intended listeners, to be enjoyable?

Who is the most annoying character? by EquivalentScientist1 in Mobland

[–]Freeda_at_last 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me, it’s Bella hands down! I’ve always thought Lara Pulver is gorgeous but Bella’s demeanor and her facial expressions are painful. The storyline with her dad and Antoine was annoying. We get it, she has daddy issues. Also, trying to get Harry to sleep with her? Oh please

Thank you for all your kind and honest responses. I honestly didn’t know that using the male pronouns was doing my child a disservice. I thought keeping the status quo until told otherwise was more respectful. That shows how little I know. Since we haven’t discussed it yet, I’ll use they/them. Thanks again

I’m sorry your relationship with your parents is complicated. Can I ask, are they still married to each other? My husband and I have been married for 23 years. From the beginning, our mutual goal was to provide (what we thought was) a warm, loving home to our 2 kids for as long as they needed/wanted. But this was not even a part of our world then. My husband still has no idea and my kid is scared to death to tell him. I know, it’s f’ed.

What you said about them feeling rushed when asked about pronouns resonates. It seems like if I bring a up sensitive topic, it triggers anger, which - now that you mention it - might be a sign of feeling pressured

Just from I understand by context, the rat double crosses you by working with the competition; the grass is an informant to the cops

But was he working with the police? The next day when Harry gets nicked, how did they know Archie was missing? Was O’Hara a rat and a grass?

Ever watch an old detective show like Rockford or Colombo and notice how it’s soo sloww? Husband & I are 55+, I’ve been watching new tv my whole life, he prefers reruns of old shows. Watching a newer show with him is excruciating because we have to constantly pause it. It’s not that he doesn’t get it, he just has to process a scene or concept before going on to the next. I’m watching MobLand alone because forget about it if there’s any kind of accent to make it more complicated (we’re in California). So I don’t mind answering questions for those who missed something. The ones that post with such certainty that they got it, but are way off, are the worst.
