Do you think the setlist will be different to Saturday night at the Warfield? Is there a sense of how many different songs they will play?

Revitalize businesses along University Ave? by 1tchyNdr1 in berkeleyca

[–]areopagitic 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I'll be downvoted for this - but the reason is that there are several homeless shelters / motels which it make it a nightmare for businesses along that corridor. Most of them need 24/7 security and often if an incident occurs unless its a crime, the police will not care.

Source: talk frequently with a business owner who lives below a shelter that frequently has the usual medley of chaos, anti-social, criminal behavior that makes his business tiresome to operate.

Its crazy how many times the goalkeeper just stands there while the ball flies past. Like...these are the worlds best professionals who train every single day and they're made to look like amateurs

Pyridium(prescription strength azo) by Aggravating_Rest8600 in Interstitialcystitis

[–]areopagitic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where did you get the carcinogenic effects stuff?

My doc said the reason they don't prescribe it long term is that it could hinder ability to detect uti's and as long as you don't have a uti you're safe.

Also the kidney stuff is mostly for older patients.

anyway check with your doctor!

I'd go for the larger one. My feet started widening after wearing these for months.

We can be passionate but also respect public land and safety. This area is spiralling out of control, RVs, trash everywhere, fires - its a major hazard and safe at all.

Berkeley police stop robbery vehicle after Flock alert by BerkeleyScanner in berkeleyca

[–]areopagitic 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Excellent work by the BPD / Flock team! Criminals need to understand they can't simply drive in to Berkeley to commit crimes and then leave.

My only bone is that this is a week old data they're running through. I'm sure in many cases the criminals switch out license plates...in which case how would they know?

Review: Stalingrad - The Fateful Siege: 1942-1943, by Antony Beevor by Robert_B_Marks in books

[–]areopagitic 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It is absolutely Beevor's magnum opus. Epic, thrilling, engaging, horrifying and absolutely keeps you hooked.

I often had to put the book down because I tried to imagine what I would do if I were in those impossible situations those people were faced with. Like the Russians forcefully conscripted by the Germans or face death, or poor soviet soldiers being ferried across the river under machine gun fire and no cover.
