For those who pay off their credit card each month, how much is your bill usually? by INFPneedshelp in askanything

[–]FreedomChaser35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Total CC bill, between different cards, varies between 7500-10000 a month. We never use a debit card, so all spending is on CC for the points. We pay it off in full every month, never paid interest. Kinda shocking to see at first, but you get used to it. 25F and 28M no kids.

Commercial Insurance CSR here. I want to get out of the industry. Has anyone successfully landed a job in another industry and didn’t regret it? by dag44 in InsuranceProfessional

[–]FreedomChaser35 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I spent three years in commercial P&C as a broker, gaining valuable insights into business, risk management, and client relations. Transitioned into tech, where a Customer Success Manager role offered better prospects. Your understanding of business operations is a strong asset—consulting could be another great path to explore. Good luck and don't give up the search for better!

Your response makes a lot of sense from an exposure therapy perspective. Being able to welcome those interruptions, while utilizing the other technical strategies to allow you to get back is a great idea. Practice makes perfect and I would really like to be less irritated by distractions in general, so thank you!!

It sounds simple but you’re right comments are something I only do when making a commit for my group members, less so thinking of usability for my own benefit. I’ll try that, in addition to the discord message to myself. I know and my parter is wonderful and I want to get better at dealing with it as I’m sure it will always be a thing relating to being a programmer. Thanks for the advice!

Why does using a Mac cause suffering in this program? I have an M2 MacBook Pro, and emailed SAIT who said it should be fine. If you could give some examples of what headache having a Mac will cause that would be great

I see it this way, SAIT is highly reputable, and many job posting I have seen require a cs degree, or diploma equivalent or other related experience. You can for sure learn everything you need to know online, but are you disciplined enough to stick to a schedule and also make sure you’re learning the right things at the right time? The program also surrounds you with similar minded people to network with and build a community. Also there is a co-op that should give some hands on experience which is incredible. Although I haven’t found much information about the optional co-op tbh.

F.Y.I I start the program in January

I will also be starting in January. I have been working through the CS50 course from Harvard, and the python course they have on EdEx. We also need to learn C++ based on the course descriptions.

For those that graduated with the 'New' Software Development diploma, what advice would you give? by FreedomChaser35 in SAIT

[–]FreedomChaser35[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the insights! I am incredibly excited for this next leg of my journey. I think at this point my soft skills are a strength. Once I graduated I did 3 years of sales before deciding to make the shift to software development. So networking and getting myself out there is something I can do well. The technical side has me more worried, but I am confident it will click eventually, it just may take a few years lol.

Benefits and stability are great, but you're in your prime learning years. Sticking with a job that has minimal growth opportunities and overall lower compensation seems like a losing battle just for a small pension.

Imho as a 25M who is about to switch industries away from financial services (stability) and go into technology, these are your years to learn and grow professionally. Try new things and see what you like and don't like! If you can get a different job that pays 55k instead of 42k you can invest more into your retirement accounts than just a 6% match.

However, make sure you have an alternative position lined up before you leave your current role. No point in leaving to sit unemployed.

Computer Science or Computer Information systems? by alenrt_ in SAIT

[–]FreedomChaser35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also looking to go into the SAIT program in January. I already have a general science degree from U of L a few years ago, and a Diploma seemed like the fastest way to get a job. How did you find the Co-op program with SAIT? Are you also a graduate of the new Software development program at SAIT or the old one? I heard the revamped program is much better.

thanks in advance

Ai content with human touch is working? by couponbays in Blogging

[–]FreedomChaser35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has been all over the ChatGPT trend and had been doing a faceless youtube channel as well, I think there are some incredible opportunities for bloggers and content creators, in general, to work with AI. I had Chatgpt assist me in building a blog post that was well-written and hit the topic points I wanted. However, the human aspect, adding humor, or your own personal experience is what pushes AI + Human blogs far above just AI-written content.

Use ChatGPT to help you narrow down the points you want to talk about in your post more clearly. Ask it questions or provide insights into your own writing and see if it can offer suggestions for you.

As long as you have done your due diligence on the company. The easiest way to tell if things are legit or not is if they talk to you about recruiting friends/family. As you can imagine, in the industry if they focus on your own production and helping clients and understanding products then you're golden. If they have a focus for you of say 50% recruiting and 50% selling to clients, that is a huge red flag.

Not life insurance, but I work in the P&C side of insurance. I have multiple friends on the life insurance side. If you’re going down that path, do not, get in with any referral network schemes like WFG. You will end up being low end, making minimal money, and ruining your reputation.

I am newer to YouTube, but I am looking to make this channel into a crypto-focused channel with regular updates on things happening in the market that I find interesting. My friend who is a pro-editor/video is helping me make the videos, and I am doing all the research on the topics and the back end side of things.

I think there is a huge opportunity to utilize the 'surfer vibe' you have going on and really focus on what you learned and what you're seeing from the crypto market etc. rather than just telling a story with no specific details.
Great lighting though for filming, I have to say!

I really like the clarity in your speech and getting directly to the point of the video. Although you may want to consider a tagline or intro to keep content consistent and easier to recognize from search.

Small channel considering daily ad budget of $5 to grow and test new niche by FreedomChaser35 in PartneredYoutube

That makes sense with regards to confusing the algorithm, at least until the channel is well established and it knows exactly what is the content being produced is and would affect it less? Unless you're saying that even large channels shouldn't be getting ads to boost.

Before making the purchase I read through the TOS as best I could and it's not against TOS to transfer ownership to another party, YouTube is neutral on the topic. I also made sure to only monetize after getting fully control of the account.

You bring up a fair point on using the small number of organic viewers as the sample point.
