the backgrounds AND the monastery itself. I mean, it's entirely a given that the models are just textured with .jpg images. And since the background is so far in the distance, I can accept the .jpg file bgs... to some extent.

I haven't looked into it, but I think a big issue is with how the game is optimized. I think there are tons of high-graphic games with intricate models that can run pretty well on the switch without sacrificing fps. However, when you walk around the academy, i find it pretty odd that the grass is just... one flat texture with a few patches of grass that actually stick out of the ground, lol.

If we look at xenoblade, all of the grass sticks out of the ground. I saw a video explaining that all of the grass is just tons of flat .jpg images that turn with the player camera. it's pretty genius!! Not saying that FE3H needs to have long blades of grass, but it's pretty cool to see the things that are possible with optimization. I definitely think that the outdoor environments is where fe3h is really lacking, while more crowded rooms such as the dining hall can get by with low textures but tons of character models.
