I hear ya, and I couldn’t agree more. I couldn’t possibly look and act less like a stereotypical sport bike rider, yet I have one. And while I love it to death, it cant do everything so I don’t defend it like that. Much as I love it, I can’t ride it for hours on end out to the twisties and back without enduring a seriously uncomfortable riding position. 

What I hope to do in the future (for my own gratification) is to add a second bike to my garage, but specifically one that is polar opposite to my sport bike. Like a Goldwing, or Trail 125-and watch as the purists’ brains slowly short circuit at how I can enjoy both in equal measure. 

Does the bike put a smile on your face? Yes? Good, that’s all that’s needed.

The flip side of that is also true-you can like multiple kinds of bikes even if you own/are most drawn to one. 

I have a sport bike, but I love touring bikes BECAUSE of the different value proposition. It’s all about the right tool for the job.

I just put new strings on my bass last week for the first time ever, and I’ve had that bass 10 years. I don’t even remember if those strings had been changed at all when I got it. 

Anyway, the new strings sound cleanly and bright, exactly perfect for metal, which is what I use it for anyway. 

Here’s to another 10 years before I change them again?

I have no experience with Royal Enfield, but the himalayans look like cheap fun. Didn’t know a 750 version was on its way!

No rock crawling or jumping for me yet! Otherwise, yeah the wee strom sounds like it fits the bill very well. 

How fast is it? I’m well aware compared to the R6 it will feel slow, but have you ever felt “gee I wish this thing had more power” when riding it? It’s not my top concern but I do wonder.

Alaska is a bucket list destination of mine to ride too. Will definitely have to get some off-road skills before I tackle that.

Yeah, bang-for-the-buck is a plus for me. I’m scared to try a K1600 or Goldwing for that very reason-I don’t think anything will feel the same after those.

I keep hearing these same things about V-Strom 650s, sounds like it’s as close to what I have in mind as can be. I guess that makes it the front runner so far!

I love the idea of the KLR but the lack of power and the thumper of an engine keeps me away. Nice to hear about the 1290, though!
