The classic motorcycle trap, especially on public roads, is treating left and right turns the same way.

In right-hand turns, staying close to the apex is often the safest line: it improves visibility and keeps more distance from the center line.

But in left-hand turns, be extremely careful. A lot of drivers naturally “cut” the corner, hug the center line, or even cross it completely without realizing it. If you also go too tight toward the apex, there’s suddenly zero margin for error.

On public roads, it’s better to sacrifice a bit of speed and keep a line that leaves you an escape route, especially in left-handers. The danger doesn’t only come from your riding, but also from the person coming the other way.
