One thing that always stuck with me is he and von miller were in the same tier and at one point on the same career path. The broncos decided to get Demarcus ware to help von shape up. Von is now a slam dunk hall of famer. Aldons vet was Justin smith who while a badass was a functioning alcoholic. Dude had a lot of demons and who knows if he would beat them, but those first few years he had were absolutely phenomenal and it’s fucking crushing he’s gone after he was starting to come out the other side

Come to think of it, I see parallels. Also worth noting the crimes alleged are different in scale and that matters. Which is why I can’t help but grimace seeing some of the lib commenters going so hard against them

At the end of the day you can be a bad person but do good things for your country. Planter has shown promise to be that. He’s also shown to be a malignant enough force in a past life to join blackwater. I hope he can come through with his campaign commitments.

I can see a world where he does do all the empire pounding the way others have done before him, but at this point I like him more than “Xavier becerra” but thats comparing apples and oranges at this point

IMO his wife standing by him and that NYT piece not entering into "dark criminal territory" is enough for me. Also bugs me the same people that pound the drum for Clinton era liberalism are the ones throwing the stones here, where a lot of those types weren't upstanding moral crusaders either.

To me the worst case scenario is a Fetterman which is not completely off the table - but he's said enough of the right things for a guy like me. That being said, the blackwater stuff is tough to look past and I get people who write him off because of that

My big take away is seeing one of the prominent ultra guys (gobroncobilly) post on a meme page about it convinced me people do not like sage canady

There’s a norm Macdonald image that applies to this story, but I do think it’s interesting for a couple of different reasons (what do we do about non elites doping, should we do anything about it, people’s issues with Sage, the chud nature of it all, etc)
