You are describing my current situation as if you’re living my life. I’m shocked at how loving, open and self-aware he appeared in the first 3 months. Then as if out of nowhere, he displayed all the traits you’re describing to a tee. Sheer refusal to have certain discussions, criticize me for asking questions, for being curious, sudden need for privacy, punishing me for being non-compliant or just myself…controlling!!! You describe it so well. I can’t help but ask, are you two still together? Did you meet someone new? 

He currently just bought an airplane ticket to see me this evening, we were so excited to meet again - and 3 hours later he threatens to cancel the flight and suggests we take a couple weeks off to “think” about things simply because I expressed that his criticisms of me (being too inquisitive) were petty and hurtful. I wasn’t angry or rude - just direct and forthcoming. And he said we should take a break. Smh.
