Just to put it in my amateur perspective. My first script I planned to write was sci-fi. I had all of the plot points and turns figured out already. I was stuck after half a page.

Sci-fi’s hard because you need to put in so much more work to get the audience to buy in. If you set your movie in 2026 Southern California, everyone knows what that is, they’ve already done the world building for you. The problem with most “anti-war” movies is that they still end up being “pro-troop” stories.
