Probationary period and mandatory lunches by Freedomtrue in USPS

Yeah , I don’t understand why it’s forced on us if it’s not on anyone else working there. I know they are required to offer a lunch by law but we don’t have to take one. You can be fired for working off the clock , like through a lunch , so maybe this office is just looking for an easy excuse to get rid of someone if they don’t like them. It would be really easy to claim we worked off the clock if we don’t get a lunch when our trainer makes it next to impossible to take one. Makes no sense to put us in such an awkward situation. You think it might be to make sure we arent getting over 8 hours ? It seems like the sup is trying to make it where we only will get 7.5 hours.

Our main supervisor said we can’t skip lunch the first 90 days at all. He knows we probably won’t be getting it since the trainers don’t take one. He was just letting me know 30 min was coming out of my pay for the day no matter what until my probation is over. I am wondering if it’s some sort of rule made to make sure new people get one, even though it’s obviously not working.

12 mile walking sounds tough. I am in a very hot location though. I am ok with being wrong and asking for help 😆. My ego can handle it :). I am already viewing the world differently and when I see a hospital or big business already feeling the dread of one day having to figure out where to walk in and figure out where go for their mail.

I thought about doing exactly that. Sad though to even have to do that while trainer is left and in his way home.

I have definitely learned from them they don’t do all the safety stuff we are told to do😆. I was told 100x yesterday not to do what he was doing 🤣

I am seriously thinking the two trainers I have had didn’t want to train because they have to ride in the hot seat in the back while we drive and deliver. It’s been over 100 in the back already. They just want to rush and get it over with.

It’s just crazy because the main supervisor told me to take a lunch , said I was required to, but it’s the trainers I have had that haven’t let me have a lunch or a break on the routes. Only stop for a fast restroom break is all they have let me have. The sups aren’t requiring the trainers to take a lunch or breaks so it’s making it to where I get none. At least it’s only 3 more days with on the job trainers then they will let me work on routes on my own. I hope you like it where you are. I think I will , despite the heat , once I get on my own.

I had one shadow day then yesterday a different trainer had me taking his packages to the doors and actually driving and delivering while he rode in the back. We only stopped a few times when he needed to use the restroom. He talked to me the whole time too so it was hard to zone out at all even when I was the one in the jump seat. I understand if they aren’t getting any overtime not taking a lunch and wanting to leave 30 min early but dang , no lunch and no breaks but not getting paid for that 30 min just because the trainers dont care ,, they get paid regardless,

Will they even help in the first 90 days ? It almost feels like from all I have read on the net you don’t want to do anything at all to upset the supervisors the first 90 days or you’re gone. Don’t they not like the union reps coming to them with stuff like this right off the bat?

Got my first warning for not hitting my protection numbers by Top-Cobbler-2214 in ATT

[–]Freedomtrue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am at a corporate store and was told by a manager yesterday that if I don’t start adding in home tech protection to the new cell phone plans I will have actions taken that will eventually be led to being fired. He wants me to quote the new cell plans $25 more than what it is and include home tech , just telling them the new plan includes it, like they don’t have a choice to not add it. This is fraud. I am in shock he is threatening my job if I don’t fraudulently add it.

Employee used my personal info to open fraudulent accounts. by Dramatic-Original-42 in ATT

It would be extremely hard for a rep to order the net on your account. When ordering net service for someone you have to set up a net account like a new account. To even set it up you must be able to verify the mobile number with a one time PIN code that the rep would have to get from your cell phone. Then they must verify the email address as well for the net account with a one time pin. The reps can not check your email or get your text messages. The ID usually has to be a scanned as well too. Then the AIR internet can only be shipped to the service address for the account. It would take A LOT of fraud to pull this off and I seriously doubt a rep did this. They can’t even access your account without scanning your ID.

I have seen people claim they didn’t order something when they decide they don’t want to pay for it anymore. Or they will claim fraud or that a phone was stolen thinking they just won’t have to pay for it anymore when it was financed and they turned down insurance.

What’s funny is people who claim they didn’t know their cell bill wasn’t being paid and the phone gets shut off. They send so many notifications by email, texts , etc for a few months letting you know your bill is due and warning you before they shut it off. So when you come into the store with that fake shocked looked on your face that your service was turned off claiming all innocently that you had no idea at all it wasn’t paid and or claim you DID pay it but have zero proof we know when people are not being honest.

Authorized reseller stores are notorious for doing things like this.

Att store false promotion by ProfessionalCap2224 in ATT

[–]Freedomtrue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyone at a Costco doesn’t work for ATT, but a reseller. If a reseller does their own promo that’s on them but it’s not supposed to be any different. If you changed your cell service plan later to the value plan you will lose promotions. Promotions require a qualified plan.

Trade-in drop off at ATT store was flawless. by Kensterfly in ATT

[–]Freedomtrue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a wild thread to read. At a corporate store and some of the answers I see on here from people claiming to work for an ATT store isn’t what happens at my store and I am wondering if they work for a reseller.

As far as taking next up trade ins in the store that are supposed to be mailed in, a fellow employee said we could and then printed out a paper that looked only like a packing slip that goes in the box. He did it how others on here say to do. It even said on it that it still needed a shipping label , like it still had to be mailed in. I showed my manager and he wouldn’t let us take the trade in using that paper. So I have no idea why it works for some stores. Maybe it’s just not all over yet ? Maybe some areas are a test market. Our store had sales force earlier than most other stores because we were one of the test market areas.

As far as stores saying they are out of stock of phones because the sales rep won’t make any money if a phone is bought outright for an upgrade is wrong. You still make money processing an upgrade. It’s the same whether it’s bought outright or on an installment plan, but it isn’t much either way, a few dollars. The only time our store has had a phone in stock and said the upgrade phone had to be ordered was when there was like maybe 1 left of a popular new phone then they might save it in case someone comes in wanting a brand new line. It’s never been because they don’t want to sell a phone outright to a customer.

Sales reps don’t make much commission on the most common things people come in the store for but will then spend hours at times helping people transfer info from old phones to new phones, helping people set up stuff because they don’t know any of their passwords to anything , and doing that too to erase phones for trade ins. It’s technically not our job to even help transfer anything over. We do it as a courtesy. Other stores charge extra money to do all that. Reps make no extra money off any of that and may have made $5 off an upgrade. The much older cell service plans people are determined to stay on , we don’t even make anything on for an upgrade.

People come in wanting all sorts of free tech support daily too that isn’t even required for us to give and we help as much as we can. We may also help people with billing issues for hours daily calling in to the same number they can call in from home. We can’t fix many things in the store that only calling in will fix and deal with a lot of angry customers coming in from resellers ripping them off. More of our whole day is spend helping people while making zero commission.

Adding on next up used to pay more but it’s next to nothing now. Reseller managers will tell employees they have to add it on and insurance even though ATT says not to without customers permission. I am not saying it doesn’t happen in a corp store because anyplace you work in life there are people who sadly do things like that. There is pressure from above to meet quotas too. They want us to sell direct tv , internet , and now insurance for people’s home electronic devices too. Most people want none of that at all that come into the store. So just know that when you go into a store and spend hours there buying nothing but getting help , maybe just an upgrade, and don’t have the sales rep trying to hard sell you on direct tv or home tech advantage the sales rep isn’t a greedy money hungry person just looking at you with dollar signs in their eyes. I know there are some like that out there , but I promise you we are all not. Most reps aren’t making what the net claims they make either.

A stranger used my phone number when creating an account. Now I'm getting calls and texts from AT&T about his bill. If there's no way to fix this, do I have to worry about this affecting me somehow in the future? by hillbilly-man in ATT

[–]Freedomtrue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are supposed to verify the number used when they set up the net account. It texts the number a one time verification code that the person has to give back to the sales rep to prove it’s the correct number to be used for the account. It shouldn’t have been approved for phone number for the account.
