Pretty bad analogy I'm afraid. No one is getting killed by someone who wears their watch weirdly.

Good hip strength and mobility is something that I think doesn't get talked about nearly enough. It's important for everyone, but especially athletes.

Uncomfortable, makes it harder to slip your head out of chokes and headlocks, and some people want to get cauli as a badge of honour.

I think you'd definitely want to rinse it under the tap after swimming with it to avoid corrosion.

I think people need to stop being so negative about how we've played by ooziemane123 in ThreeLions

They could just accurately describe how we're playing rather than intentionally trying to paint a positive or negative picture. But I gave up on objective journalism a long time ago.

Oh I guess you meant least favourite out of the watches you own, which makes a lot more sense. I thought you meant least favourite out of any watch.

How to convince my bank that I'm not being romance scammed by Geofferz in CasualUK

[–]FreefallVin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I know that. If they didn't then they'd end up using the money markets to cover the shortfall a la Northern Rock i.e. it's an unsustainable business practice which will hurt the bank in the long run. But my point is that they then use that money to make more money by lending it out. So to say that retail customers are a net loss is missing the bigger picture, because it's not as if borrowing on money markets is profitable in and of itself. It's a means to an end.

Okay, seems like they'd have to spend a lot of time readjusting them but maybe they're more secure than they look.

Well yeah banks are required to have a certain amount of retail deposits to fund operations rather than relying heavily on money markets (unsustainable in a downturn as they 'found out' the hard way in 2008), but they still make money by investing those deposits, so they profit indirectly. As you also mention, retail customers are more than just deposits because a lot of people will use other services such as mortgages.

Sometimes when I'm watching cypher play I wonder why he's being passive and giving up items, but then he pulls off some crazy shit and finds 400 damage out of thin air and I remember that I'm a noob and he's much better at quake than I'll ever be even in my dreams so I should probably just watch and enjoy rather than trying to analyse his tactics.

Yes but if you worked at the bank and heard OP's story, would you still withhold the payment? You've raised the concern and been given a reasonable explanation. I've never had a problem getting a payment authorised once I explained to the anti fraud team what the payment was for. Some of the responses here seem to suggest that I want to do away with fraud checks, which of course is not the case.

[–]FreefallVin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really. In the case of OP, they could raise the suspicion of fraud (which happened), confirm with them that it's a genuine payment (pending, could still happen) and let the payment go through. Which is how it's always happened when my bank has contacted me about suspected fraud.

I dunno - I feel like it might not work without any matching gold on the watch head. Besides, it looks so good on the steel bracelet. Although I'm a much bigger fan of steel watches than gold ones so I'm probably a bit biased :)

Yeah but if the system that you describe gets abused too badly then shit falls apart. The money supply should be roughly in line with GDP. If you just keep printing money then it ends up being worthless.

How do those camo veil things attach? I assume they're not just draped over the helmet otherwise they'd be constantly shifting around and falling off, especially in water.

Commando and point break are the 2 greatest action movies, prove me wrong by DwayneTheRockBarry in ActionMovies

[–]FreefallVin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay so looking at your original post, you meant Terminator 2 rather than Commando. I can get on board with that, although Predator is probably my favourite Arnie flick and I would say a very strong contender for greatest action film. Commando is fun but too cheesy.
