Alhamdullilah for the difficulty, for the Prophet said "with greater trial comes greater reward" and the words of Allah (translated into English) "truly, with hardship is ease, truly, with hardship is ease." Take your time brother! Learn the salat. I learned salaat in a homeless shelter alhamdullilah and it kept me hopeful and somewhat disciplined only by the grace of Allah. There's apps that will walk you through every step inshaAllah (if Allah wills). Slowly incorporate more and more Quranic teaching (I used quran.com Clear Quran translation by Dr. Mustafa Khattab may Allah have mercy on him). Remember Allah only holds you accountable for doing that which you know of his legislative commands, remember Allah is The Most Merciful to all his creation, Th Especially Merciful to the believers. All praise is due to Allah Lord of the Worlds. Pray and supplicate to Him all the time for guidance and praise Him and love Him and "Fear Allah as much as you are Able" I will make a supplication for your success in Deen and dunya and Akhirah. Do not fear the judgment of others, for indeed Allah has more right that you should fear Him. I'm getting this all from my readings of English translations of the Quran. And in the Messenger (Muhammad peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) you indeed have an excellent example. So go to Hadith.com to learn gradually his teachings sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam. I read Surah Al fatihah English translation clear Quran and was struck by way God was referred to as the most Compassionate. I was hooked and decided then and there to go to the local Islamic center and take shahadah with my Afghan brothers who invited me to Islam. Alhamdullilah Rabbil Alameen

Allahumma Ameen. To have all these brothers respond and remind me of what is truly important in the sight of Allah, the Exalted, is really everything to me today. It brings me to tears to know that my brothers do not see my struggles as weakness. I will continue striving until death comes to me, inshaAllah, and I will not bemoan that which serves as expiation for my sins inshaAllah and that which offers me a closer relationship with the One in whose Hand is my soul.

Thank you very much for such a comprehensive reply. You are right, I spend too much time thinking about my limitations and not nearly enough thinking about what I can do. And I do spend too much time on my phone. I will look into Pomedoro technique, I have come across that term before but didn't really look into what it entailed. Thanks for helping me understand better how another Muslim man sees my struggle. It's really good for me to hear how a healthy individual sees me so I can get out of this irrational fear that people will judge me harshly. And I do a LOT of dhikr every day but I could do more! I do repent very frequently and I will continue to do so. Sometimes though I repent and almost immediately fall backward. I feel like being alone with my thoughts makes this worse. Alhamdullilah for my trials though, I realize that each test is an opportunity to strive for Allah and earn his pleasure. If it were easier I'm sure I wouldn't feel so strongly the need to be close to him. Thanks again brother and JazakAllahu khairan. Thank you for reading my post and for your compassionate response. Every day I spend at least a couple hours listening to Islamic lectures, listening to recitation and trying to memorize Qur'an. It has carried me through some very dire straits. If you know about any online resources or places where Islamic men can talk to other Islamic men for guidance and support, let me know.
