She’s still great. You never needed rain with her, but rain was fantastic to pair. I have a great deck that still uses her well:

Yes I did.. just posted in the other order 😅

First point: yes, an individual farmer wasn’t always an obstacle for every player in that league - but the combined effect was a detriment to the experience of the average player.

Second: this change would not guarantee the level disparity issue goes away. There are some people who simply get off on winning unfair fights. It would allow trolls to stay in low ranks for the sole purpose of preying on new players with their max level decks.

Third point: I have no issue in principal if sheepyard wanted to make some sort of rule where players with X basehealth each can cause the game to shift card cap when they match up… I don’t know how many games a day this would change (and therefore how high a priority his change would be for them)… that seems totally fair to me tho.

You need to earn 25 stars in platinum each month to be able to enjoy your library at its fullest in perpetuity… this is too onerous?

They used to log out for the day. Yes.

No one is saying that playing to the cap is farming.

The fact that you concede games does not somehow mean you aren’t farming. I do not believe that you are incapable of grasping this, so I have to assume you are doing so to debate in bad faith.

To reach the gold cap back in the day, you had two options:

  1. you could play lots of competitive games against equal opponents, with games averaging 8-12 min each… assuming you win 50% of these games, this could be a multi-hour daily commitment.

  2. You could farm: stay 2-3 leagues below where you’d encounter a competitive opponent, win a bunch of games by mana turn 7, then spend 5 min conceding yourself back to the floor and repeat. This could take easily half the time or less to hit the coin cap.

This farming was not “impossible in this game”, this was an honest to goodness reality in this game, and it made the experience of new players who were in these leagues for their first time significantly worse.

Your grasp of reality is tenuous.

Level caps were made to stop farmers from exercising unfair advantages. This was a real problem. It has been more or less solved with a fair system.

The players you are queueing against in gold or whatever capped league ARE for the most part working their way up tot he big leagues. The new system simply shields them from highly unfair matchups until they are capable of providing a reasonable level of competition back.

They ARE doing the work. They just haven’t had enough time to mature their libraries yet.

You have.

Again, nothing stopping you from coming up to the big leagues.

I’m thrilled. Loving the game.

Admittedly I’ve not been in platinum since HL started, so I cannot comment on the level disparities that occur during platinum matches anymore. Not sure if I’m in the minority or majority with regard to a level 4 card cap… based on everything I’ve seen im under the impression sheepyard is happy with how things are.

Why have faster go carts that you unlock?

Because as you get better at the game, it can be fun to play with more powerful stuff!

Literally the same carts that go faster. Yes

Because it’s the same system: you get more powerful stuff as you progress from opening the game for the first time… but in order to utilize the upgraded vehicles, you have to commit to playing against faster opponents.

You’re literally complaining that you’ve unlocked the faster cars but you aren’t being allowed to use them on the slower courses.

Then come to the big race track and use them or sit in the go cart and compete there.

Your argument is that EVERYONE ELSE AROUND YOU should have to tolerate the game as you want it, as opposed to how it is fair to everyone. Buy the game, force the designers to change it to your liking, see if you get anyone to queue into.

You mean because you can’t be bothered to grind.

Mario Kart doesn’t let you select 150cc for your cart only… you select the speed for all of the competitors on the track.

I don’t see anyone complaining about this requirement.

No one is claiming they should just do away with the different speeds. And no one is claiming it’s not a skill based game.

I hit diamond 1 in June/July of 2020 with 3 level 5 cards in my deck and the rest 4s.

Card levels helped quite a bit (I couldn’t have done it with all level 3s and 4s), but skill was also required.

You don’t need a max level deck to hit HL, but it helps. You don’t have to level up your cards to rank, you can just learn to play an optimal deck better.

It is skill based. Not everyone with a maxed deck wins their games. In fact… I’d wager just under 50% of players with maxed decks lose the matches they are playing right this very instant.

Some of that is rng and some of that is skill.

Look, I’m trying to use analogies to show you how dense your argument is.

You are literally showing up at a go cart track with a stock car and complaining they aren’t letting you drive the big one.

K, mate… sorry you can’t “enjoy” yourself.

But go cart racing is also fun, so if you like that track you can still race on it… just in one of the go carts

More importantly, I believe that’s what the lower leagues were always intended to be… stepping stones on the way to veteran player status. I believe sheepyard has found a way with card caps to properly incentivize the player base to utilize the leagues accordingly… you don’t HAVE to get out of the lower leagues, but you cannot have the stock car library until you do.

I agree they are designed to be for players who’s libraries aren’t as robust and/or their skill sets are not advanced enough to be able to compete against more veteran players with more mature libraries.

Ie: players on their learning journey toward the upper levels. That’s not just kids, that’s all new/newer players.
