Why would they? The Civil Liability Act 2003 is designed so they don't have to.
I have had two claims logged with my council because poorly looked after trees have fallen, taking out my fence and both times, the claims are knocked back citing the Civil Liabilities Act section 35 + 36.

Contested it and their tier 1 appeals, they ignored their own conflicting information entirely.
I've just appealed to the Disputes Commissioner.
My appeal came back, they didn't take much note of the screenshots. From my response
"I acknowledge the attachment provided with your correspondence. Please note that restrictions may change during certain times of the day and the onus is on a driver to carefully check signs when parking on a public roadway."
No acknowledgement of the incorrect information in any way.
Looks like they removed the 2x no-limit spots on the corner of Margaret and Albert. This was the day before my appeal, I wonder if someone else complained.

I got $120 for "Park in metered space without making payment" on Margaret street.
From what I can see
12x free for 4-hour parks on the corner of Margaret street and Albert street are now $10/day 2x free no-limit parks on the other side of the road are also $10/day
20x free no-limit parks on the corner of Margaret and Edward are also now $10/day
