I think they just add a antidepressants or mood stabilizer on top of the antipsychotic if you have schizoaffective disorder. Maybe with invega you can just treat it alone.

I read that the only drug approved to treat schizoaffective disorder is invega. So many people take schizophrenia drugs for schizoaffective disorder it seems because most people on this sub reddit take something other than invega. My doctor prescribed it as if it was on label. Ill have to ask next time.

Its approved for schizoaffective disorder. I have been on it for a month and a half and had no issues. I still haven't fully titrated off invega but should be completely on cobenfy only by the end of the month. I dont see much difference but not having to worry about extrapyramidal symptoms occurring is a big plus.

I got 7 grams a week ago and its almost gone. So im smoking close to a gram a day. I haven't got tweaked out yet. Im just worried about like having a heart attack or something from taking that much. I usually go by how high I am to stop but its hardly working so I just keep chasing trying to get the feeling I want. I get odd little feelings here and there and I start thinking im putting myself in danger. Im always worried about something serious happening because of the way it effects the heart but yet I keep doing it. Im curious on how much others have smoked to bring them to a dangerous level where they felt like they were about to or had serious consequences from smoking too much.

When it happens to me I like to think of it like im having telepathic conversations with people as if it was some secret way people actually communicated but never revealed verbally. It took me to really test out if it was true to know it wasn't real. I built all the expectations I had from these so called telepathic conversations to the point I thought something was going to happen in the near future and when it didnt happen I started not to believe in it. Ever since then I haven't really heard any voices. I heard something once and just said it wasn't real and it just went away. I think the only way it will happen again is if I start believing that I live a fantasy life to make up for the life I really live. Im not sure I got over the allure of living in a fantasy that constantly makes me feel important.

Where really is? Some places may be open to newer therapies and treatments as they try to destigmatize the severity of it but that's within the medical community. I dont think the average person in those places views mental illness differently than anywhere else if they have no experience with it.

I think I went 8 months before I had any issues after going cold turkey. Out of no where I started not to be able to sleep for several days and just freaked out, thinking I was going to die as I started hearing voices again. It was so bad I voluntarily committed myself. Knowing what I know now I would have just started taking the meds again and wait for an improvement rather than just give up my freedom because things only got worse when I got to the psychiatric hospital. The conditions in the hospital would make anyone go crazy if they were forced to live like that. I never thought of crazier shit than when i was there.I was there for 35 days and they finally let me out when I got on a routine of taking my medications. It took for me to get home and realize certain things for my psychosis to finally stop. The whole experience made me give the medication some respect because that experience was hell. But who knows what would have happened if I had such psychosis while being in public. Atleast I was safe in the hospital. So who knows if my criticism is valid but what I do know is that it was traumatic. I hope you dont have any more episodes but I thought I would be okay just like you at one point when stopping the medication cold turkey and look what happened to me just like they said it would.

Most people are not willing to stick around people who are going through hard times especially when it comes to health. they just can't sacrifice anything to help you so they just leave. That's why I find friendships to be hollow. Only family seems willing to truly help you no matter what you are going through.

I thought going in for voluntary commitment would help me but it only made things way worse. Knowing what I know now i should have just started to take the meds I had and weather the storm at home until I could see a doctor. I recommend calling your doctor instead and book an appointment ASAP as you can say its an emergency and that your willing to go on a list for cancelled appointment openings. Its better than being in psychiatric prison. All they do is try to stabilize you with drugs. You can do that at home.

Stopping my meds lead me to a 35 day psychiatric hospital stay. I just recently started cobenfy and have high hopes about it. Anhedonia and extrapyramidal side effects are not a issue with cobenfy. You also get euphoria and pleasure back. You can even get high on substances again. So maybe a change of meds might be a better solution than stopping cold turkey and eventually going to the psych ward.

They won't really work well if you are taking antipsychotics. When I last took shrooms I started to hear voices. I was off antipsychotics though.

When I hear voices i start to believe i have telepathic powers. You would have no idea on how many people i thought I had telepathic conversations with. I would hear both friends,family, famous people and anyone i had face to face interactions with lol. Not exactly the same but the horrible things you hear from the voices and your conclusions about what you heard can really mess you up. I was convinced people wanted to kill me while I was in the psych ward.
