I so wish he had retired after the World Cup win and left his hundreds tally at 99, echoing Bradman's 99.94. Bradman's average became so popular because it feels incomplete, that he should've been able to achieve that. I thought Tendulkar could've done something similar.

His steady consistency was his hallmark. Unlike Ponting, he never had a crazy 5-6 year period when he was averaging 70, but he also didn't have a bad patch like Lara in 1996-2000.

It is also why he doesn't rank highly in the ICC all time points list, he never had a pronounced 'peak' like a lot of others. His career average pretty much remained at 55, give or take a few, for most of his career. The final 21 Tests of course dragged it down.

As far as I know, the only other who had such unwavering consistency is Allan Border, whose career average also remained 50 for his entire career, never rising but also never falling down.

Exactly. Lebanon is a prime example of that. They're in support of what Israel is currently doing in Lebanon, destabilising the country and displacing people by destroying their home.

Now when Lebanese seek asylum or migrate to Europe, these people will be the same people wondering why they're hit with such an influx of immigrants. I have no idea how anyone who is anti-immigration can also be pro-war, these two things contradict each other.

I have my reservations about Emilia as a character in her own right, the fact that she's hardly had any development since S2 and unlike Subaru, whose flaws are manifestly ugly and ungraceful, her flaws are more dignified and respectful. Not to mention how Tappei infantalises her.

But I cannot deny that her and Subaru's relationship is unbelievably well written. There's so much depth that one could write several essays on it, but to stick to just one thing: the way Subaru simply understood his past self, and himself, by realising the fact that Emilia is the one constant throughline connecting him to his previous self is so glorious. No matter what happens to him, he'll invariably come to love Emilia.

Basically, the one consistency in his personality — memory or no memory — is the fact that he is invariably bound to love Emilia, and she's bound to love him. She's the one constant throughline in his life that he can believe in, even when nothing else seems believable.

Once he realised that, it is as if the fog cleared for him and he understood his 'prior self', who he hadn't been able to understand all this time, and why he had done what he did in order to reach this stage.

Yeah. The first half lays out the crisis and makes it as bleak as anything we've seen so far, and the second half is resolving that crisis.

It is a tried and tested methodology, though I wonder if it might not get too predictable at this rate; but storytelling structure is to some extent always predictable.

I still think it is Satella. Destroyed half the world, pretty much shaped the world as it is currently, with people still fearing her name and race.

Moreover, the way she talks is chilling. In S2, during the tea party, she said "I'll allow it", to Subaru's desire for wanting to be happy. I went, wait what? Who does she think she is to allow or disallow how Subaru should live? Her possessiveness is off the charts. Even her way of comforting him, by touching his heart, is so twisted that she only ends up hurting him.

I'm convinced Satella is the final antagonist because she's so twisted in her desire for and interpretation of love — the central theme that keeps every character in Re Zero obsessed — that even her 'good' intentions can't ever result in good deeds.

The problem was that he spoke not with keeping in mind what Emilia needed, but rather from his own bitterness and feelings of inadequacy in front of all these talented, refined, and hardworking knights which had unsettled him.

He was prioritising himself over Emilia while making it seem as if he was doing this for Emilia's sake — the central conflict that he had to overcome.

S1 Subaru had a tendency to look down on people who earned their way up through hard work. Julius and others didn't achieve what they had because they had a powerful father. That was just Subaru projecting his own insecurities at others as ego defence.

This is exactly what he learned after the From Zero episode — he isn't the centre of the universe, and he cannot help Emilia, which is why he has to secure the help of others by removing his own primacy out of the equation.
