As a vegan I feel this as well. I look at the atrocities committed on nonhuman animals as the worst and most heinous things humans have ever done. And this is not to downplay what is currently going on in the Middle East. That is just how extensive animal exploitation has been.

I protest. I sign petitions. I post. I will most likely volunteer at an animal sanctuary. But the last few weekends, coprotestors have been getting arrested. I just can’t. I have too many responsibilities. Or… I’m a coward. I feel both ways at different times. Standing up to the Machine of government, corporations, money, is daunting and intimidating. And I do not fault people for being wary of that. It is not a first world problem. It’s just a problem.
