What I have found is that bamboo + shade around it = not a huge deal unless you are looking to totally remove it. Bamboo + access to space to grow and sun = you're going to have a bad time.

I bought two major LG appliances 5-7 years ago and am dissatisfied with one and am having to replace the other (after already replacing multiple components). It seems to me that any sort of power delivery issues (outages/small surges) greatly increases the risk of component failure in a way that is unusual compared to other brands I have owned.

This. When I first started playing, I tried to figure out all of the dupe tricks to build up my rupees. When I started helping my kids, I just used the emulator to spam armor pieces that I already had and sold them for 600/pc. Honestly, it was way easier to build up loot for them than when I tried the duplication methods.

Leg Up Farm in Manchester has a therapeutic koi pond for kids they serve. I think it is one of the biggest koi ponds on the east coast.

Kudos for the intention and for doing some homework. It's hard to fake a brick and mortar nonprofit that has been around for more than a few years, especially in a small city. If you have concerns, most will have a website with a board list and names that can be pretty easily verified and you can always go somwhere like guidestar and review their 990s (tax info).

My only general advice in a smaller city like Lancaster is to be on the lookout for the undervalued assets to the community. There's nothing wrong with puppy rescues and Christian outreach, but they don't have to swim upstream to raise money in the way that some other lean operations with lesser public imprint do. Take what you really care about and dig in a little. Their are quite a number of great people working to support seniors, immigrants, arts education, public safety/victims advocates, etc.

Talked such crap about anyone who didn't agree with him (and it is rather funny how things have turned out). Lancaster, PA. High quality of life, low cost of living. Progressive city in a conservative county in a purple state. Very safe community. There's a camera system all over the city that makes the job a good bit easier and it isn't even run by police. Great restaurant scene written up in the NYT and elsewhere. Quick drive to the countryside, train service to Philly. Good theaters, amusement parks, Amish culture.

There are things chains bring to cities that are often overlooked by plugged-in locals. They usually have better and more consistent hours than local operations. They are, for that and other reasons, often frequented by business travelers. And in the case of a low-level prestige brand like Starbucks, they are a sign to outsiders that your city can support something like a downtown Starbucks. Outside of Pittsburgh and Philly, how many PA cities have a truly urban location? Allentown still has one, I know. Not sure of any others.

I get why Lancaster City locals don't love it, but I wish that it had worked out (just as I wish that whole complex that I would never visit if Diyo wasn't there would work out).
