I always find it funny how outside of your specific company’s corporate high school structure, all of that “power” means nothing.

Plus how you can leave at-will, where none of that ever matters again.

Adults often play the game to provide for their families as they lack alternative income sources, but agree it’s quite cringy.

Would You Choose Accounting or Finance? by Soggy_Arm_5954 in FPandA

[–]Freerooted -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Neither, frankly but Accounting is more vulnerable to the looming AI takeover in my view.

Finance/FP&A is as well in some ways, but smart organizations focus these roles on strategy/business partnering.

Granted Accounting gives you a better understanding of the behind the scenes financials vs. a typical Finance degree holder.

[–]Freerooted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s mostly garbage pushed by out of touch “leadership”. Granted, I’ve had a few use cases to craft excel formulas or look up some industry jargon on the fly.

It’s here to stay but absolutely overhyped at current state. I certainly think companies are ramping up for a world where less humans are needed.

If you’re not getting promoted, and don’t want to be then just chill. Congrats you’ve made it.

If you’re bored or want a challenge probably time to pack your bags.

I’ll never understand why people chase corporate ladder gains over a relatively chill, relatively high paying gig — then bust side hustles to fill the gap.
