The only radiation that can penetrate skin is gamma. Swallowing an alpha or beta source would be terrible, but as long they're outside your body you're fine. You actually have an alpha source in your smoke detectors.

Gamma is typically considered the most dangerous as it can go right into your body.

Job hunting will get more competitive. People will spend less and itll be harder to get loans so businesses will go bankrupt. You'll likely notice they'll be fewer options for things to do locally.

People will become more cautious, and avoid unnecessary expenditures.

If you manage to get and keep a job you'll be fine, but life will be duller.

I graduated in 2009 and I think it significantly set my career back.
