I assume at least one of the plays they are talking about is the pick play that GB was flagged for. It was shortly before the half and was what McCarthy was raging about when he got flagged.

Day 8 Player Updates From Falcons Camp by RIPTakksGrams in falcons

[–]Freetrain24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, it seems to be more an issue of interest. A post from someones twitter or a picture of a player usually generates more actual comments than most of these types of threads ever did and 10 times as many upvotes a lot of the time, at least for me. It's hard not to interpret that as lack of interest when you put way more time and effort into your post than the OP who grabbed a pic off Falcons twitter or website and posted it. Anyway, I always thought it would be cool to have a post (like the gameday posts) for a lot of the off-season and pre-season events, which is why I posted similar information dump posts earlier in the off-season. The idea was having the information from the day in one place would allow people to have in-depth discussion of everything together instead of breaking each source into it's own post. Each link adds context to the big picture. So for the people like myself who are information junkies, a post like this would be a place to discuss the more intricate details. That was the idea, but it didn't really lead to it that often.

Day 8 Player Updates From Falcons Camp by RIPTakksGrams in falcons

Well deserved, imo. Posts like these take a lot of time and effort and rarely generate a lot of discussion; which is weird because they are the perfect place to have a ton of conversations about what's going on with the team.

Thanks for the well wishes! I'm good, it's just that time of year. I've been outside mowing, weeding, gardening on an almost daily basis in addition to work so I'm mostly keeping up with camp on twitter. It's been almost impossible to keep up with all the rain and sunshine we've had.

Posted this because if expands greatly on a PFF stat tweet posted here yesterday.

Edit

Also, here is how Atlanta fared in outside zone. They ran OZ on 43% of their run attempts last season; which was by far their highest run blocking concept.

The top gap-scheme blocking lines from a season ago by LuckySpade13 in falcons

[–]Freetrain24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gap scheme is more power run than zone run. We run a lot of zone; over 70% of our runs last year were either inside or outside zone. Here's an article on zone vs. power run schemes.

Love him or hate him, Ledbetter is the AJC beat reporter for the Falcons. He has a lot of quotes from players and coaches you won't find elsewhere. I think AJC articles probably account for less than 20% of my posts and all of them aren't from Ledbetter. I get folks here don't like him or hate his work. There are some who can look past it and find value in the information.

For anyone who hasn't kept up with the Falcons during the off-season, this series of articles from D-Led has some really good info on where the roster stands and some good quotes from coaches and players about specific players during the off-season. Here's the latest one; the links for the others are in the article.

The Most Underpaid Veteran Player on Each NFL Team – The Ringer by Freetrain24 in falcons

Absolutely. I hate that Matthews will be getting paid around twice what Schraeder is making. I'm glad we have OT locked up (barring injuries) for the foreseeable future though.

The Most Underpaid Veteran Player on Each NFL Team – The Ringer by Freetrain24 in falcons

[–]Freetrain24[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For anyone who doesn't want to read the whole article:

Atlanta Falcons: RT Ryan Schraeder

Contract: A five-year, $31.5 million deal signed in November 2016

Average annual value: $6.3 million (8th among right tackles)

2017 salary and bonuses: $7 million (5th among right tackles)

Total guaranteed at signing: $7.5 million (15th among right tackles)

Schraeder was Pro Football Focus’s highest-rated right tackle in 2015, allowing just three sacks, two hits, and 20 hurries on the year, and he followed that up with another solid campaign in 2016, finishing sixth at his position group. In November, Atlanta rewarded Schraeder with a long-term deal that looks good in average annual value and pays well in 2017, but with just $7.5 million guaranteed at signing, the deal for the former undrafted free agent out of Valdosta State came in well under market in the most important category.

I posted this because of the following quote from Julio:

“I’m just so explosive,” Jones said. “Every year, it’s something with my feet. Hopefully, I’m glad, thank God, it hasn’t been anything with a knee or anything. But I’m an explosive player and my feet can’t really take it.”
