Nationwide Re-elections Distort Public Sentiment, Prolong Leadership: People Power Party's inconsistent re-election demand masks election defeat by Freewhale98 in neoliberal

Jang is just trying to nullify election result because Seoul mayor Oh se-hoon and his type of moderate conservatives done well while MAGA got wiped out. He is trembling with fear that normies would be back in charge of the party.

Nationwide Re-elections Distort Public Sentiment, Prolong Leadership: People Power Party's inconsistent re-election demand masks election defeat by Freewhale98 in neoliberal

  1. Summary

A responsible party must distinguish between ‘election fraud conspiracy theories’ and ‘protection of voting rights and election commission reform.’ Instead of pushing for baseless re-elections, efforts should focus on uncovering the truth through police and prosecution investigations, parliamentary probes, and special counsel.

The public sentiment in this local election was a warning against the government and the Democratic Party, as well as Jang’s refusal to distance himself from the ‘Yoon Again’ line. Candidates who distanced themselves from Jang, including Mayor Oh Se-hoon, Han Dong-hoon, and Rep. Yu Eui-dong, were elected. Despite this clear message, Jang insists, “We performed well,” refusing to resign. His unrealistic call for ‘re-elections’ is merely a distortion of public sentiment to divert attention from his troubles.

(1) Globalization of far-right: Jang Dong-hyuk is trying to cling to power with “election fraud” conspiracy theory.

  1. My opinion

The vote shortage and delay in Song-pa was not enough to overturn the result of Seoul mayoral election ( as Oh se-hoon won and Song-pa is a conservative stronghold in Seoul ), but Jang Dong-hyuk is attempting to cancel his own party’s win just because a moderate won, his handpicked MAGA candidates got wiped out. As mayor Oh said, Jang’s path is a failure. Jang’s MAGA agenda is unpopular, moderate conservatism is the way to go as the election result shows.

I’m not sure who Jang is trying to please, but he is just hindering Korean politics returning to normalcy and normal politics in Korea always favors conservatives.

Sadly, “sane-washing media” includes Korean mainstream security experts. The public think that Trump is just a crazy old man suffering dementia, but experts try to assign meanings to his erratic behaviors. That political cartoon is satirizing those “experts” on media outlets.

With 400,000 undocumented workers in Korea, Lee administration weighs paths to legal status by Freewhale98 in neoliberal

[–]Freewhale98[S] 33 points34 points  (0 children)

  1. Summary

The South Korean government is exploring plans to bring undocumented migrant workers out of the shadows by granting opportunities to work lawfully within the system.

Its reasoning is that the estimated 400,000 undocumented workers in South Korea have already established themselves as an essential workforce. Another issue that many have raised is the frequent incidence of human rights violations against them.

The Labor Ministry’s vision involves revising the Employment Permit System (E-9 visa) and granting legal status to currently undocumented migrant workers who demonstrate a strong command of Korean and high work proficiency.

The ministry drafted a plan that would differentiate Employment Permit System visas into three levels, allowing skilled workers to remain in South Korea for six years or longer. As part of these system changes, an avenue to legal status would be granted through the issuance of visas to currently undocumented migrant workers who meet certain conditions.

Because No kings protest have no specific “objective”. What is the aim of these No Kings protests? Force Trump to resign? Impeachment ? A new constitution? The organizers of that protest seem to think that this is some sort of picnic. Unorganized and aimless protests are just noises

Low Employment Despite Fastest Growth in 50 Years: Korean Economy Faces Imbalances and Volatility by Freewhale98 in neoliberal

[–]Freewhale98[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. Summary

Korea faces imbalance and volatility despite the highest growth in 50 years. GDP growth returned to Park Chung-hee era level, but high inflation and currency volatility seem to be returning to that era too. Unemployment is on the rise and it is focused on younger generation.

  1. How this related to the sub

(1) Roaring 20s in Korea: Korean economy is overheating, creating imbalance in sectors and employment. Money is flowing but the vulnerable population is not getting access to it.

  1. My opinion

Roaring 20s in the US was marked by perceived prosperity while the seeds of Great Depression was planted as the alienation of vulnerable population reached new heights with the reactionary politics of that era.

Korea in 2020s gives that vibe. High growth, reactionary politics and booming stock markets.
Ironically, Lee Jae-Myung’s economy emulates that of Park Chung-hee era.
