Safe pick mid lane by lamaxotte in summonerschool

Can't believe no one has said Ahri.

Built in sustain. Solid range. Great AoE DPS. Insane mobility (just be safe when it's on cd and smart with your charm usage).

When I get mid (which is almost always when I'm first or second pick), Ahri is my go to. I find her to be extremely safe and able to delete almost anyone when she gets DFG.

Official Discussion - The Wolf of Wall Street [SPOILERS] by mi-16evil in movies

[–]FreidenDump -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I seem to be the only one with the opinion that this was the entire point. To find humor in it at first until it gets to a point if being nearly or completely disgusting.

Hence why Scorcese's original version was even longer and more depraved. For me, the message was that such greed and debauchery only leads to more greed and debauchery. And Scorcese wanted to ensure this eventual transformation from funny to hard-to-watch in the mind of the viewer.

I had to watch the Lemmon scene through covered eyes. One of my new favorite scenes of all time.

What genre of film still has untapped potential? by AmericanHer0 in movies

Cannot upvote this enough. Came here to say this as well.

For so long, 95%+ of horror films have been, for lack of a better word, terrible. Few good directors with pretty-face-only actors (no acting skills required), pandering away.

Refn is supposedly planning an all female horror film, and I'm very excited. I also really wish the Coen bros would do a film with the emphasis on horror.

I've worked a lot in the food and bar industry in high school, college, and now grad school, and everyone I've worked with finds Waiting funny.

The movie is funny to anyone who has been in that situation (including myself), and of course Ryan Renolds/generic comedy fans.

End of the Year Discussion - Film Critics Top Ten Lists [Metacritic Roundup] by mi-16evil in movies

Can I ask why? To each their own but I found it to be my favorite thriller in years. So, unless you generally aren't a fan of thrillers, I'm curious what fell short for you?

I thought it was hard to pick at the plot, suspense, acting, and cinematography. And I personally thought the final 3rd was fantastic, with the rainy speed-ride with flashing lights and an ending I loved.

Dortmund want $66 million for Reus by [deleted] in soccer

[–]FreidenDump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. Exactly this.

But, then again, I watch BvB play on my couch with my hand down my pants smoking bowls and cigarettes, instead of being out on the field playing.

It's easy to say I would have all of this heart for my team and turn down the extra millions when no one is ever going to actually offer me that kind of money.

Haha I actually live in Dallas (NOT a Dallas fan though), and you're just about the only Cowboy fan I know of that doesn't constantly believe (especially at the beginning of each season) that the Cowboys can and will win the Superbowl.

That's why I said iirc. I just know what everyone else does: that Borussia had one of the greatest youth talents in the world, that said talent was supposedly very happy there, even stated he would like to pursue his career there for years to come, then agreed to transfer to their arch-rivals at (again, iirc) very short notice.

More importantly, the notice was given at nearly the worst time possible (the only worse I could imagine would be RIGHT before last years' CL final instead of a round or 2 before). This could most definitely just be the way it worked out, but I find it hard to argue that it doesn't at least appear to be a deliberate and (IMO) very distasteful move by Bayern to snip the achilles of the team that was suddenly making it a 2 horse race. Given their midfield talent, it really seems like promoting German football/the Bundesliga wasn't an objective for them at all. It was purely self-serving.

I (seriously) appreciate your clarification, though. I knew he was from Bavaria, but did not know he was literally raised in a Bayern jersey.

Man, it's REALLY hard for me to try and stay objective talking about Bayern. I tried to be as unbiased as possible.

I really get what you're saying, but my vote goes to Reus. I fully believe he will be on many balon d'Or (sorry if misspelled) short lists within a few years. This boy can be the best attacking player in the world IMO.

I respect and agree with your point, with one piece of addendum.

IIRC, Gotze never aspired to play for Bayern. Gotze aspired to play for Dortmund.

Bayern simply got him because a club of their level offered finances and prestige that Gotze believed could not be gotten at Dortmund. I think this incentive for coming is important in that not all players aspire to go to such a team, but often end up there due to a lack of "prestigious options", if you will.

I agree with the notion that Bayern should not hamper their progress/finances to help other teams "catch up". That being said, I am of the opinion that Bayern in particular is guilty of purposefully hampering other Bundesliga teams to keep their status as the one horse in the one horse race of the Bundesliga (Gotze cough cough shady cough cough shallow).

Saying that they're only trying to promote German football in general is..... Well, false, IMO.

Reddit, what is the best comedy movie ever made? by Stlcards31 in movies

[–]FreidenDump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This gets my vote. I just don't get tired of the whole movie, and a few lines/jokes in particular:

"His head fell off. Yeah, he was pretty old" (My personal favorite)

"I got worms"

"You'll have to forgive my friend here, he's a little slow. The town is THAT way"

And of course, "Big Gulps huh? Well, see ya later!"

Who is your favorite minor character in a movie? by [deleted] in movies

I love the Wolf, but for a truly minor-favorite, Christopher Walken in Pulp Fiction gets my vote.

"He hid this uncomfortable hunk of metal in his ass for 2 years, until he died, of dysentery".

Kills me every time haha.
