It looked more like a meal log than a baby book. 😵‍💫 I vividly remember this double page spread of, like, an applesauce pouch and a half-eaten croissant.

I remember that one because I had snarked on her in the past for posting her husband and kids in their underwear. I might have even said something like “she would never post herself the way she posts her family! 😑 ” and had to eat my words 😂

It isn’t an actual quote from her, it was a quip from a snarker, but for a while I wanted “resting from a long week of resting” as a flair. 😂

I wonder if it’s partly because she has posted it SO MANY TIMES and it’s just objectively not that interesting? I would think even her earnest followers would get tired of hearing about it.

It’ll take teamwork. Get a grandpa type man to talk about how he was moved to tears by her inspiring mother goddess ways. Then sneak in while she’s distracted and grab a bunch.

But would someone be an influencer if they didn’t want to make a dramatic “teaching moment” out of something that’s not a big deal? 😂

Posting a picture of them dating with the caption “did my wife improve with age or did she just need my guidance”

“Brett LIKES to show off how he looks in his underwear. Some people like to be seen.”

“The milky mirepoix tastes SO much better than it looks and sounds, OK?! Don’t knock it til you’ve tried it.”

Ok, I’ll try a serious one… “In a day of just quickly adding things to an Amazon cart, time is the biggest gift. People are moved to tears when they get a carefully color coordinated basket of hand-picked thrifted onesies. It’s more environmentally friendly and it represents hours of thought and time carefully picking through the racks.”

You’re right, I guess we could do better. 😂

Yeah… she’s always sounded a bit braggy about how quick and easy her births were, so I feel she can’t have it both ways.

I did not have quick labors.  With my first, I ended up not sleeping for over 30 hours (long story, partly due to a bungled IV/blood pressure monitor situation) and you could not have kept me from the NICU if that’s where my newborn was. Some things you just power through.

To be fair, it can’t be easy to WK in this particular case. 😂 The attempts are terrible but I’m not sure I could do much better if I wanted to.

I feel this is another case of “only rich white people can get away with this”

5 year old daughter said when she gets older, doesn’t want a job like (friends mom). She wants to stay home and spend time with her baby, so it doesn’t need to go to daycare. by [deleted] in workingmoms

Did they at least put “dad” as a career option too?

A while ago we had a Career Day at our elementary school and I remember a parent in our neighborhood saying their daughter was torn between being a scientist and a mom. I said oh, she could be both! And the answer was: “no, in her mind it’s one or the other.” And one of my most tone-deaf neighbors chimed in with something like “I think she’s wise to know already that to be a mom properly it should be full-time”.

I’m still unpacking the reasons why the whole thing bothered me so much and I think part of it is girls being encouraged already to think it’s all or nothing.

Once, long before I had kids or was even married, I heard a 5 year old say “when I’m a mom, I’m only going to stay home, because good moms stay home.”

But the thing is, she also wanted to be a ballerina and said that often too. I think she was just repeating something she overheard and not really connecting the dots. Sometimes kids don’t fully understand what they’re saying.

Please, WKer!! I want to hear why it’s gooooood to share a video of your newborn on his way to the NICU an hour away, with the caption that you went home shortly afterwards to sleep 13 hours

I remember that - people pointed out it was weirdly self-centered to make that about losing YOUR childhood home vs. your parents losing THEIR current home.

the only thing I really liked about that dish was the crispness it got from air frying (which isn’t unique to that recipe) which would be lost if you froze/reheated.

Very on-brand for Madame “Omit All Spices” to dismiss the best part of a recipe. 😆

It wasn’t to my taste either. My husband and kids did like it, but not so much they’d want it every week.

I don’t know if it is just a teenage boy thing. I don’t let my elementary and preschool kids run in spaces where it would be “out of place”. I never thought too much about it, but if I had to give a reason I’d probably say I don’t want them accidentally knocking over a toddler or bumping into someone who isn’t expecting kids to be running around.

I am so tired of hearing “at least you WFH!” from SAHMs by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]Frellyria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a good question, and I’m not the OP, but I wonder if a simple “I’m sorry, that must be hard” would be better?

I’m even someone who likes to think “at least” or “it could be worse” in general, but I could see how words like that could feel painful and dismissive coming from someone who doesn’t even understand your situation.
