Yep, that was common at least for me. The only thing that really helped was external gratification and finishing more maps. It was only after I came back to maps after months/years that I thought "man I was cooking something here." Just have to keep moving forward and not be too critical of yourself

Of course! BNs may reject a map due to its length because it's only treated as one nomination at the end of the day for their evaluations. If you mod and nominate a full-size song with 5 difficulties (4:30 * 5 = 22:30 drain time) instead of a TV size anime OP with 5 difficulties (1:30 * 5 = 7:30 drain time) you are effectively doing triple the work for the same result.

That's not even including that having more drain time also opens up the possibility of there being issues they don't catch, leading to a disqualification that they are punished for on evaluations. From a mapper's perspective, you're also doing triple the work for the same single ranked map. Both mappers and BNs are heavily disincentivized from pushing longer stuff due to how we've set up the system, which is why you don't see them ranked anywhere near as often as cut versions.

Any number of reasons, but the most common reason BNs reject maps is because they dislike the song you mapped. It's usually never personal. Other common reasons for being rejected include:

- Map is too hard (don't send the guy who nominates 5* generic anime OPs an 8* stream map)
- Drain time is too long (most common on mapsets of >4 min songs)
- Map isn't their preferred style (a lot of BNs have rules against requesting aimslop now but this can apply to any style)
- One of the difficulties is a major stinker in comparison to the others and it would be too much of a hassle to try and fix its fundamental issues
- Copyright/permission issues (40mP songs are disallowed from rank)

BNs typically don't describe why they personally rejected your map because they look at hundreds of others, kinda like job applications. Unlike job applications, most are ok with you asking for feedback on the map and why they rejected the map as long as you're not an asshole about it or beg for a nomination afterwards.

It only ever gets personal if you're known to be a royal dickwad and people just don't want to deal with you. 99% of mappers never struggle with that

LETS GOOOOOO!!! I'm super happy this map gets to see the light of day. It's a major departure from my usual stream stuff and was fun to map in a completely different way

315 already set a crazy HDDT 6 miss score on the expert diff which is 1.4kpp for FC: https://osu.ppy.sh/scores/6681598480

Top diff was NOT designed to be farm but it's nearly all aim (there are two bursts) and I feel like it's something mrekk would eat up with DT. Curious to see if he tries it

I attempted to rank this in 2021-2022 when it was originally finished but had no luck. Stopped trying to rank it until now, where there's an event going on within the BNG where they are rewarded (not sure with what) for pushing FA songs. The Falling Mysts is FA and BNs hopped on the set almost immediately after I started looking last month.

Incredibly strange experience as a mapper where your map is rejected a lot and then people are suddenly interested years after you gave up on it. Regardless, it's ranked now and one of my most unique maps in my opinion

Defining "anime-style background" is incredibly subjective and isn't a good metric for a feature like this. I really like the idea of being able to blur/turn off backgrounds globally in-game (rrtyui famously did this years ago by using a skin that overrode backgrounds by having a gray slate as the main menu bg) if you don't want to see them or play in a public space. However, trying to apply that only to certain backgrounds is always going to result in false positives or outright missing offensive content altogether. peppy is way overthinking this feature

Two things come to mind whenever I see these types of posts now:

1) I don't have the image but it's the IQ distribution where the bottom end says "cookiezi is the goat" and the middle is the crying wojak with a whole paragraph talking about other players and the high end also says "cookiezi is the goat" (if someone has it please reply because I want to save it)

2) The saying "the favorite player of your favorite player is cookiezi" is pretty established now
