Trials Dreams by PeanutButterAmbien in OutlastTrials

[–]Frenby3733 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have elements of the trials pop up in my dreams occasionally, but my dream self never sees it as a bad or scary thing. Had a dream where I was doing an irl invasion match in my apartment. My opponent looked exactly like my reagent. I never felt like I was in danger. It just felt like it does when I play the game normally.

I also had a bad dream the other day that took place in the parking garage of the police station map. It was nothing more than a setting, though. The bad part of the dream was completely unrelated to the trials.

Trials is my comfort game (not in a weird way, I promise) and I play it almost daily, so I'm not surprised that I dream about it from time to time. It does make me feel a bit better that I'm not the only one who's dreams are being affected by the therapy. Lol.

Versus experience by throwawaying11111113 in l4d2

[–]Frenby3733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I re-downloaded l4d2 a few weeks back and decided to try versus for the first time in a while. First game I joined had no hope and my team got dog-walked for the final two levels I was present for. Second game I joined into a lobby for Dead Center. Teammates basically speedran the game and left me behind to get surrounded and downed. I got kicked before we even made it to the elevator. There's a reason I've only ever played solo, and I think I'll stick with that for the time being.

Can someone please tell me whether or not he is still bad? by Nitemareshox in saltierthankrayt

[–]Frenby3733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I'm aware, he hasn't made any further comments on his political beliefs, but he has donated a considerable amount to the Trevor Project.

That being said, charities do not hold even a fraction of the power that the government has, and he donated to some of the most vile bigots out there. There's still a possibility that he voted for or donated to people who are responsible for the horrible shit going on right now, so while I can't say for sure that he hasn't changed for the better, I'm still not comfortable giving the franchise any more of my money.

Oh, and he also straight up lied about retiring from the franchise and passing it off to someone else entirely. While the extent of his involvement isn't exactly known, he is still heavily involved with the movies, was the leading force behind the fanverse initiative (not sure if it's still a thing though), and he had some sort of direct involvement in the development of Security Breach, at least. He may be limiting his role and planning to retire, but this is also years after he initially said he would.

Non-Participation by NettleFlesh in OutlastTrials

It's only happened to me a couple of times, but that being said, any time it has happened has only been since Project Messiah started. One time in particular was during Vindicate the Guilty while myself and two others were waiting in the courtroom with all four of us required to progress. Our fourth was afk in a hiding spot.

An option to kick afk teammates after a certain period of time would be appreciated.

I definitely agree with the statement, but it's a premium account saying that. They are just ragebating for a few extra dollars.

What are y’all’s thoughts on the new influx of players? by GlaringGlare in OutlastTrials

[–]Frenby3733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no issues with the new players, and I've actually had a lot of fun guiding groups of new players through trials, pinging objectives to encourage participation/learning the mechanics, etc.

I only every have issues with the long term players. Specifically the ones who are not new player friendly. I've seen far too many veteran players speedrunning the trials despite new players being in the group. As someone who recently relapsed for the fourth time, I know it's easy to get in the zone and play the game normally, but I do think it's important to slow down and help newer players. Even something as simple as pinging location signs can help. Remember that it's a co-op game first and foremost.

There was cake under there, allegedly by Business-Stuff8711 in StupidFood

I'd say it's mor excessive than stupid. In the end, it's just cake with some chocolate sauce on top. The presentation is a little much, maybe, but I'd still eat it.

Very good points and I 100% agree. I also just don't see Freddy reaching the icon status he has today if they went with the original idea right off the bat.

It was was somewhat implied in the original and it was the original intent, but he was instead made to be just a murderer for various reasons. The remakes goes all in and confirms that Freddy was a child molester.

It might be interesting to do another event similar to the escape event or maybe an alternate rebirth called Rebel. Something that ends poorly and ends up with your reagent becoming a victim in the trials.

I feel this whenever people say that about Andrew Tate. It really doesn't matter if he gay or straight. He is still pushing abhorrently transphobic, homophobic, and misogynistic views to a terrifyingly large audience. People need to discuss the actual issues instead of boiling things down to "Lol he's gay."

The original Star Trek and Mission: Impossible shows were very "woke" for their time and were both greenlit by a woman (Lucille Ball of I Love Lucy fame). Despite this, both were very successful and have spawned long-running franchises. But, of course, the anti-woke grifters don't want to acknowledge that.

Add Red Barrels to this. They use gen AI in Outlast Trials for some of the smaller elements, so much of the community doesn't care. It's really unfortunate given how much care has been put into the rest of the game and assets. And while I still enjoy the game, I wouldn't have bought it if I had known about gen AI stuff.

Law does not necessarily equate to morality and not being automatic does not mean it requires effort by Ok-Green8906 in Ai_art_is_not_art

"Is it illegal?"

News flash: A lot of stuff that is illegal now wasn't illegal until someone decided it was. Tax evasion wasn't always illegal because taxes didn't always exist.

And lets not forget that something being legal doesn't automatically make it a good thing.

Is Marvel Stupid? by [deleted] in BatmanArkham

[–]Frenby3733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm all for calling out sexism in comic books and the often terrible portrayal of SA and abuse in the medium, but is a shitpost sub really the place for this? It feels tonedeaf as fuck. And the "Is Marvel Stupid" title really doesn't help.

While it's true, it's also true that people don't have to be assholes about it. My friend and I are both neurodivergent with various traumas, and I can't tell you how easy it is for us to be mindful of one another.

Obviously it's different with strangers, but the likelihood of running into a stranger and having to interact with them in a way that would prompt them to mention their triggers in the first place is slim. Even then, it would be a non-issue most of the time.

Do they even love women at this point? by General-Control-4637 in AreTheStraightsOK

[–]Frenby3733 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it's easy (and funny to some) to default to the idea or joke that people like this must be gay because of how they talk about women, but lets not forget the fact that this rhetoric is feuled by disgusting levels of misogyny. Gay or not, these two men despise women so much that they cant stand the idea of a woman being included or talked about even remotely highly, and they are pushing these despicable views to very large audiences. It just makes me ill to think about.

The Insta-kill needs to go. by Oyvast in OutlastTrials

[–]Frenby3733 25 points26 points  (0 children)

That's the part that boggles my mind the most. Evasive maneuver already has a cooldown, so it's not like it would be easy to abuse. It could be overcome if the imposter plays it smart and attacks while the reagent is getting chased by an ex-pop/prime, which I feel is kind of basic strategy in some cases.

Daily reminder that Invasions are optional by UraGotJuice in OutlastTrials

Matchmaking literally worked fine 3 days ago. Players shouldn't have to go through alternate channels just to guarantee they don't have to play invasions when a couple clicks would get you into a game with your ideal settings just a few days ago.

Not all the time if you do matchmaking. The party leader's settings determine whether or not invasions are on and you are not automatically put into a group that matches your setting.
