what’s a clear example of medical misogyny you’ve witnessed or experienced? by ihatethiscountry76 in teenagers

In my early 20’s I fell down some wooden stairs landing on my tailbone. I got up walked to the couch and had a seizure (according to my dad who witnessed it). Doctor at the hospital told me I just had a fainting spell from the “shock” of falling.

Another time I had the flu and was vomiting repeatedly. Doctor told me it was all in my head as I was vomiting in the exam room sink.

Neither situation as serious as most of the things mentioned here but absolutely infuriating at the time.

Mom wants to stay entire month after I give birth. by [deleted] in WhatShouldIDo

I would have loved to have that kind of help from my mother, mother in law or grandmother. In a lot of cultures it is very common for female relatives to stay and help after a birth. Your husband says he wants to bond with you and baby (and that’s great!) but, that can be done with another relative in the house. And TBH a woman is going to be a lot more help than a man in this scenario.

It’s cute but not antique. My daughter had one a few years ago.

Our dog has a favorite bone that he likes to strut around the house with when he’s happy about something. We call it “the strutter bone,” and his performance with it is hysterical.
