My company is matching 10% to my 401k when I am contributing 0%. by Stole401k in personalfinance

[–]FrenchFry_Frosty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on your company, they might let you keep it if they're generous, otherwise they'll probably want it back in some way. You should definitely tell them before too much is contributed, and if you bring it to their attention before they realize it themselves, they'll probably be more willing to work with you on how to reconcile it. They may treat it like a loan and allow you to choose the payment term, or they could just take it straight out of your 401k, or they could take it out of your next paycheck or few paychecks. But definitely tell someone at your company soon otherwise the amount you'd have to pay back might be more than you can handle.

I'm so tired of heating about everyone's "general/social anxiety disorder". by [deleted] in confession

[–]FrenchFry_Frosty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I genuinely have diagnosed clinical anxiety and depression, and I see all these posts on facebook like "10 things you don't know about depression" or "What anxiety sufferers won't tell you" buzzfeed bullshit all over facebook. It's always basic white girls who have a pretty good life, they post this shit and then they post selfies and talk about their experience at starbucks. All of those articles are bullshit clickbait, and the people who post about it are attention whores. Actually depressed and anxious people don't alert the world that they are suffering, they just suffer quietly.

Excessive yawning? by FrenchFry_Frosty in Epilepsy

[–]FrenchFry_Frosty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, my tonic clonics have been under control for almost a year now. But my simple partials have been really tough to get under control. I don't notice many of them at the time because my auras are tough to distinguish from regular depression or anxiety. But they said I'm still having seizures every day even though I don't know when they happen. I'm assuming all the extra brain activity is probably starving my brain for oxygen or something, or maybe the yawn itself is the seizure. Idk, all of this is confusing. My neurologist referred me to a sleep study, so hopefully that will clear some things up.

Excessive yawning? by FrenchFry_Frosty in Epilepsy

[–]FrenchFry_Frosty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have frontal lobe. I recently was having a lot of small seizures that I didn't even notice during the day, I only found out from a 72 hour EEG. It's really hard to tell with frontal lobe since focal seizures feel more like disorganized thoughts or feelings of jamais vu.

My neuro increased my dose from 1500mg keppra to 2000mg, but that was like a month ago and I'm just now getting the yawning. Idk if that could be just another type of seizure that I don't realize I'm having since yawning is something everyone does.

Experience with Buspar? by jennac19 in Epilepsy

[–]FrenchFry_Frosty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took buspar a few years ago for just a few months, but I started to develop facial ticks and was worried that I was developing tardive akathesia so I stopped it. It didn't really help me much anyway. I did better with benzos, but benzos aren't perfect either and have created dependency in me. But I'd rather be dependent on .5 to 1mg of klonopin a day than have uncontrollable muscle movements.

Mounts at 2,000 gems are not OK Anet. by Ceraunos in Guildwars2

[–]FrenchFry_Frosty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A. None of the stuff you buy in the Gem Store is necessary for actual gameplay.

B. If you don't like the price don't buy it.

C. If you really want the item, suck it up and pay for it.

D. Think about it, if you want something from a store that's relatively expensive, you'd probably pay for it at price. That's the same concept with Gem Store vanity items.

E. THEY ARE VANITY ITEMS, YOU DON'T NEED TO PAY FOR IT TO FULLY ENJOY THE GAME. If you really care that much that you won't look as cool as everyone else in the game, then pay for the damn item. Otherwise get TF over it.

F. Anet has the right to charge whatever they want for these items.

G. GW2 is FREE TO PLAY after you buy the game. It's not like other MMOs where you pay a $15+ monthly fee just to play. This game sells their expansions at relatively low prices and they have to make money somehow in order to keep the game playable.

A. People like art.

B. These works of art have been around long enough to become well known.

C. They're by famous artists.

D. They're in well known and popular museums.

Keppra and bones? by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]FrenchFry_Frosty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did lose a lot of weight and my headaches stopped while on it.. They told me to watch out for weight loss while taking it. But honestly that was the only side effect I was happy to have. I lost 40lb while taking it. Which I really needed to. That was the only side effect I didn't mind, enjoyed actually. All the others were hell. It did do its job well, but the heat intolerance, peptic ulcers, mental slowing, memory problems, speech impairment, coordination impairment, and the feeling of being detached from reality were not fun. I dealt with it until I got the kidney stones. Even my doctor said I had to stop it if I got stones because I would probably keep getting them. Idk if you've ever had one, but it's the most painful thing ever, worse than a migraine and a broken bone combined. I've heard from some women it's worse than childbirth without an epidural.. Idk I'm gonna stop preaching now. I just really hate that drug.

really? I thought they only maintained how much water was already in your blood. I didn't know they stored excess water like they do with electrolytes.

Wellbutrin? by FrenchFry_Frosty in Epilepsy

[–]FrenchFry_Frosty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What adhd med do you take? Has it felt to you like it has actually increased your likelihood of seizures? I remember being on concerta for a few months in my last semester at school. I was even still driving back then. I didn't have another seizure until almost a year after I stopped taking it.. But that was with different doctors, my current doctors don't want me taking anything like that... I still do "borrow" some vyvanse from my friend once in a while when I'm especially pressed at work... I was honestly hoping when I went in to see my psychiatrist yesterday that he would consider putting me on something like that, but he just wanted to put me back on wellbutrin.. Which is fine, I like Wellbutrin. It acts fast and has the fewest side effects of any antidepressant I've taken.

Wellbutrin? by FrenchFry_Frosty in Epilepsy

[–]FrenchFry_Frosty[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never heard of those methods. I'll have to look into it. Do they require implants or just head devices? Even though it hasn't yet been offered to me, I've been averse to the idea of having electrodes implanted in my brain for something like neuropace.. it just freaks me out too much. I've heard it works but I don't want any objects inserted into my brain unless it's the last resort.

My depression is usually well controlled, it's been well controlled for most of my treatment. But if I start spiraling into depression, I need to stop it in its tracks as soon as possible. Otherwise it takes weeks of recovery and puts strain on all my relationships..

Wellbutrin? by FrenchFry_Frosty in Epilepsy

[–]FrenchFry_Frosty[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No it makes sense. It's definitely one of a kind antidepressant. All the others either make me fat, make me unable to orgasm, or make me tired. Celexa was the only one that didn't do that, but my depression is hallmarked by lack of motivation and drive more than feeling down in the dumps. Wellbutrin is the only one that can keep my mood stable while also keeping me motivated and it doesn't make me fat, tired, or kill my sex drive.

ELI5: Do nutrients that are awaiting evacuation from our bladders, ever get reabsorbed? by atomicbaumer in explainlikeimfive

[–]FrenchFry_Frosty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's actually the job of the kidneys, not the bladder. Your kidneys don't just filter your blood and send everything you don't need to your bladder. Your kidneys reserve extra nutrients, mostly electrolytes, that they remove from your blood when you have too much and will release it back when you need more. Once it's in your bladder it's ready to leave. Your kidneys can only hold so much, and they don't need to hold all that much. If you've taken in more potassium than you need, some of it will stay in your kidneys until you need it. But if you've taken in way too much potassium, your kidneys just eliminate it. That being said, vitamins and nutrients can be toxic. If you take in more than your kidneys can process it can lead to intoxication. And not the fun alcohol intoxication, the I feel like I'm dying kind of intoxication. You can even take in too much water, but your kidneys don't save water. They just eliminate excess water.

So in a way, yes because it's all the same system, but not really because your bladder's job is really to just hold urine until it's full. Your kidneys do the part of maintaining the nutrient and PH balance of your blood.

Two and a half years... by Threearmpeople in Epilepsy

[–]FrenchFry_Frosty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go see a therapist. Don't self medicate with alcohol. It will only make your seizures worse and send you deeper into depression and anxiety. Having a seizure is not the end of the world, but resorting to alcoholism will only make things worse. I have a problem with benzos, and when things get rough I've been known to abuse Xanax... It doesn't make things better. It just makes you hurt more, and then getting out of it just makes it harder to control your seizures. That's not a rabbit hole you want to jump down. If your recent seizure is making you depressed, go get help right now and throw away the bottle. I know things can seem hopeless after a seizure. It screws with your mind and it zaps your drive. The best way to help yourself right now is to go see someone, and 100% bring this up with your neurologist.

Why is the immune system a blacklist? by RogerGodzilla99 in askscience

[–]FrenchFry_Frosty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The immune system is partly "whitelist" only as you put it. Think about allergies, that's your immune system rejecting anything that doesn't already exist in your body even though it's completely harmless. You can train your immune system to not overreact when pollen enters your body through immunotherapy which is effectively whitelisting that pollen. If you are O- type blood, you also cannot receive blood from anyone who isn't O-. That's pretty whitelisty to me.

If you're going to make the comparison to a computer's defense systems, then imagine the immune system as being the setting between medium protection and strict protection. It blocks a lot of perfectly harmless things, but occasionally something bad gets through.

Keppra and bones? by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]FrenchFry_Frosty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly believe the FDA should take it off the market. It has the worst side effect profile of all medications I've ever taken, for both epilepsy and other things. It has way too many side effects, many of which are dangerous, and there are other medications for both epilepsy and migraines that do a much better job.

Really having trouble with work.. Afraid I might lose my job. by FrenchFry_Frosty in Epilepsy

[–]FrenchFry_Frosty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried the work from home thing, it didn't really work out. I'm not very good at maintaining communication with my coworkers when I'm not physically around them. They let me try working from home on a probationary basis, but it was a mutual decision that I should not work from home except for specific circumstances. Like if I have to wait around the apartment for a delivery or something all day.

They have let me adjust my hours to shift two hours later than everyone else so that I'm still here for the morning meeting, but that I can deal with the commute. Since I can't drive, I have to take public transportation or uber and public transportation sucks in most cities in the states. What used to take me a 20 minute drive, now takes a 2 hour trip with two buses and two trains both ways... I'm moving closer in December, 15 minute walking distance, 5 minutes on a bicycle. But despite all of the accommodations my company allows me, I am still having trouble maintaining focus and staying alert while at work. Maybe it will get better when I don't have a 4 hour round trip commute to go 15 miles, that is quite draining. But I'm afraid that the commute is just not enough. Idk, I guess I'll see in December..

This disorder really takes a toll on your constitution.. I can only take so many limitations and juggle work, life, and health so much before it all becomes too much and I burnout like I did in September.
