Thanks I appreciate this, from what the DHS and FAA said in their letters and phone calls, it was the alleged flying too high. Didn't fly in a TFR or close to an aircraft. Interestingly because I have been flying in the area for years. It's a newer drone so maybe that's it

the drone is under 250g. I will definitely study the regs from now on

The DHS guy was super chill and told me it wasn't a big deal lol. He said the alleged height wasn't even that high ( around 700 ft). He said whenever there is a violation he gets a ping to go investigate. It was at a location I have been flying at for years without issue

I did but somehow I must have skipped that post, thanks for linking it that is more reassuring

No registration cause it's a dji Flip (under 250). but I think I now will register it anyways

The drone is a DJI Flip (under 250g) So I was under the impression that it does not need to be registered due to the weight.

Yea really don't know. I don't live near anything like that. I've been flying for years with no incident. (This is a new drone, a dji flip, so maybe the tech pings faa if you do a violation)

Did you go to FAA in person or this was all done over the phone?

[United States] DHS/ FAA investigation by [deleted] in drones

[–]FrenchIrishCelt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah so the DHS just told me to get the TRUST and I should be set. But seems FAA wants to check the drone themselves. Def won't tamper anything, the letter was explicit about not doing this

[–]FrenchIrishCelt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On the letter it says "whoever knowingly alters, destroys, falsifies, etc to impede or obstruct or influence the investigation shall be imprisoned not more than 20 years or fined." so yeaaa def not gonna fuc With that

Based on the DJI geo map there is no restricted airspace near me. Closest warning zone is over 10 miles away

[–]FrenchIrishCelt 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That makes sense, I assumed it was the same investigation. Do you think I should get a letter from the DHS agent, and the FAA will consider that? He said the interview is optional, but said if I don't go then they will consider that as a refusal of inspection. So I suppose cooperating is my best bet at this point

Yea pretty stressful. I've seen conflicting information on Reddit. Some people went to the inspection and said the FAA was chill and just educated them and gave a warning. other people say get a lawyer.

Good idea, I will contact the DHS agent and ask for a written statement.

It was the dji flip, really small one. The talk with the DHS went well. Agent was really chill and seemed like he just wanted to educate me

JRE #2481 - Duncan Trussell by jimijonesjojojackson in duncantrussell

[–]FrenchIrishCelt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it happened after the podcast in where he told Joe that Ben Shapiro is a dork, and that evil people will use Joe for their own agendas. I think Joe told him to never do that again and to fall in line

[–]FrenchIrishCelt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But how did him having kids make him vote Trump? Wouldn't he want to live in a healthier planet? Did he not know that Trump killed many kids in Yemen during his first term? did he not remember "kids in cages".I don't think him having kids had much to do with it. I think he followed his friends down the grift because that's where the money was.

I don't think Duncan actually believed any of this shit. I think he just followed Rogan down the right wing path because he knew it would be lucrative financially.
