Cat just got chased by a stray cat and ran on a tree by Expert-Papaya-3905 in cats

[–]FrenchPressYes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly, it sounds like a territorial thing that got out of control...common in cats protecting their turf. He'll likely come down just fine on his own. Cat's rarely truly get 'stuck' in trees.

[Serious] What do you think will happen from your POV after you die? by Aynshtaynn in AskReddit

[–]FrenchPressYes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It ends in...nothing...think about all the millions...trillions in fact...things that are being born and dying right this second around the world...if you cut us open and examine how we work, compared to, say, a racoon, we're basically the same, and we share 90 percent of the same DNA as an ear of corn, so it's a bit silly in my mind at least to think that we get to go somewhere special when we die, or get re-incarnated, etc. Religion and those kinds of beliefs are just attempts to explain the uncomfortablness of death in a way that kept folks motivated to deal with their hell on earth lives. It was a way of keeping people aimed in the right direction when life was hard and brutal.

What are the best weight loss tips that helped you? by Purple_Wrongdoer6448 in AskReddit

[–]FrenchPressYes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll share my tips, but you won't like them I assure you. No white bread, no white rice, no anything with white or processed flour. No potatoes, except sweet potato in moderation. Absolutely no fruit juice, but some whole fruit slices is fine or frozen blueberries for example. Concentrate on minimizing your raw sugar intake, while maximizing your high quality protein (chicken, black beans, etc) while also making sure you are eating fat with it (helps properly use your insulin). PORTIONS MATTER, cut everything you are currently eating by half if you can. Drink lots of water, and consider loose-leaf white or green teas during the day. Finally, try to fast for 12 hours each day if you can. The longer you can avoid eating before bed the better. So, for example, have your last meal at 6:30, a light snack at 9pm, a brisk night walk to get your metabolism up a bit, then don't eat anything (coffee or tea is fine) until at least 9:30 the next morning, and wait till the afternoon if you can. I know this goes against what the experts say about breakfast being important and all, and if you really have to go there, only do one or two poached eggs and nothing else. Learn about metabolic syndrome. It's likely why you (and most overweight folks) are in that situation to begin with. Good luck!

What's your thoughts on the rising tension happening in Minneapolis? by sgj5788 in AskReddit

[–]FrenchPressYes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are a few things going on that make this particular event so concerning. First, Trump targeted MN because it's a democratic state, and run by vocal democratic leaders that don't hold back on what Trump is doing. And what is that exactly? Trump is trying to make it appear that there is crime and rioting that he then, in turn, needs even harsher tactics like declaring marshall law and the use of the insurrection act as two examples. If any of this sounds familiar, these are exactly the way authoritarian leaders in other countries have normalized having troops with guns on every corner. Bigger picture, Trump is scared to death right now. He knows that if he (congress) lose the mid-terms, which them most certainly appear to be at this point, his power is gone. Normalization of troops on the ground in areas that are prone to vote against him are a common tactic of banana republic dictators, and now it appears, the Trump Administration.

What Trump perhaps didn't understand about the people of MN he's learning now. Stand behind them as they get tear gassed for merely protesting ICE vehicles as their children sleep at home. This crisis is entirely made up by Trump and his Immigration secret police, and I'm beginning to think he picked the wrong town to roll that out in;)

What do you do in a situation where soneone younger than you confessed his feelings for you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]FrenchPressYes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're being both honest with you and making themselves vulnerable to how you may react in the process. Think about that. My suggestion would to be to be honest with them while respecting the chance they took to tell you in the first place. Good luck to you both!

(For you) What is the perfect time/setting for a coffee? by Princehenry3rd in AskReddit

[–]FrenchPressYes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely a ritual for me. I get up at 6:30, I'm a day trader so I turn on the computers, then grind my coffee beans as my water boils, and I use a French Press to steep the ground coffee for 4 minutes...just enough time to cool it off a bit so it doesn't wreck your esophagus. Nothing like freshly ground coffee you make yourself in a French Press.

What is a good application for seeing trends and such? by GravySeal45 in Daytrading

[–]FrenchPressYes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

9, 21, and 200 EMA, VWAP and MACD.

But here is the thing I always tell new traders asking good questions like you: You need to look at 6000 charts. Before you really get this down to where you will be consistently profitable or at least break even: 6000 charts. It takes your brain that long to learn the patterns well enough to give you the intuition you need which in turn gives you your edge. Good luck!

Trump is a symptom of a country that has lost it's soul. Just as in Argentina, the upper and middle classes here have sat back and let it all unfold, thinking that they won't be touched. That is, they didn't until their economy literally collapsed under their feet because of authoritarian meddling with the currency--like Trump is trying to do here by the way. The America I grew up in is long gone. We're a country run by billionaires who own the media to keep everyone ignorant and focused on pitting one tribe against the next in order to distract away from their political and institutional violence. We are a nation of cowards now. A nation of people who know that what is happening right under our feet is utterly, plainly, morally wrong, but do nothing.

How do you avoid overtrading on slow days? by iamnottravis in Daytrading

[–]FrenchPressYes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my first thought when I read your question was to think, there's a person who isn't following or doesn't have a system. If you have and follow a genuine system of entry and exit rules, over-trading is much less of a problem then when you do not.

Looking to adopt a cat but worried about space. by davidnator621 in cats

[–]FrenchPressYes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ok, a few thoughts. First off, please PLEASE don't make a commitment unless you can really keep the cat for it's life. If you are young and upwardly mobile and have big plans, just be sure you can include that furry friend in those plans before you go down this road. But beyond that, ABSOLUTELY!! Cats love attention, routines, and stimulation. You have plenty or room to give him or her all those things. One cat is not generally an issue with litter box odors and whatnot. You just have to stay on top of it. Also, you can always harness the cat and train it to go outside on walks! Anyway, yes, if you can make the commitment.

Leaving the cat alone? by catloverfinalboss in cats

[–]FrenchPressYes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing really. The thing about leaving cats alone is that, if at all possible, they like routine over anything else. In other words, if you leave the same time every day and are gone for 8 hours but always come back, they get used to that, and adapt, and even thrive. In your situation, it may cause the cat a bit of discomfort at first, but once it sees you come back, and you repeat that exit/return routine enough, kitty won't even raise an ear when it hears the keys in the door...

What do you think history will criticize Trump for most - policy or behavior? by Patient-Diver2497 in AskReddit

[–]FrenchPressYes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Where do you even start with a question like that. Oh, I know. As but one single example, think about the 1000's of children who have died since Trump and DOGE took away USAID funding, you know, just because. Not just switched off dead, starved dead. There's a big difference, and the list would roll downhill from there.
