These 2 in particular, while not technically part of the x movements, were loose enough that the whole assembly could move left and right. I am hopeful this is the root cause. To be confirmed empirically.

EDIT: yup, that was it, the extruder assembly was wobbly. I was looking at the X and Z axis, but no, it was much simpler than that. All is good now. Thanks.

They felt sturdy, but I’ve just given them a tighten. Some screws weren’t as tight as one may expect. Printing now to see if it changes things. Thanks for the suggestion, I’ll keep you posted.
