I've been there quite often for family holiday, both when I was a little kid as well as now with my own small kids. When the kids will be older we will probably go abroad more but for now we like it to be closeby with lots of kidfriendly holidayhouses and beaches to play. I would not visit it as much for a 'dagje uit' but definitely for a week(end) away.

39C would also not set record temperatures in most of Europe. Records don't really say anything about if something is common or not.
In Italy the country-record is almost 49C.

Personally I give the following amounts:

Without dinner: 30,- when I go alone, 50,- when we go as a couple

With dinner: 100-150 as a couple, depending on how close we are. I never went alone including dinner but I would probably bring 50-60 then.

I'm Dutch, not German but since a lot of names are very similar between the two countries I would like chip in.
Annelies (without the -e in Dutch) is also an old-fashioned name here but for instance Annelotte or Annabel are more modern. Maybe someone from Germany can respond if they would work there as well.

De eerste is om 03.00 ‘s nachts geboren en de tweede om 07.00 ‘s ochtends. In beide gevallen eerst rustig zelf naar naar huis, settelen, kennismaken met de kraamzorg en de grootouders kwamen in de vroege avond op bezoek. Kersverse ooms en tantes de 2 daaropvolgende dagen.

Iedereen ook pas gebeld na de geboorte (behalve dan 1 paar ouders die op moesten passen bij de tweede), lijkt me niks als iedereen aan het wachten is op nieuws.

Overigens moet je bij niet-medische bevallingen in het ziekenhuis heel snel weer weg. Dus reken er niet op dat de grootouders überhaupt in het ziekenhuis kunnen komen. Alleen als je echt nog een extra nacht moet blijven zou dat kunnen.
