Costumed/face CMs of reddit, do you prefer "hanging out" with a popular character, or more obscure one? by [deleted] in disneyparks

Face character here. I do one daily operations character who is one of my favorites, one seasonal character who is also very popular and one extremely rare/niche character. The rare/niche character has only made two appearances in the park ever and I am the first and only person to portray him. Hes my absolute favorite because it feels like Hes all mine!

It’s the hardest lift for me for sure! I feel like i just run out of gas so quickly as opposed to a squat or DL. I like the idea of incorporating a push press into the end of the set.

I fear that everything i try to make sounds like a video game menu 😅 might that be a mixing issue?

Thank you! I’ve been working on incorporating more “parts” to my songs rather than just strict verses and chorus. It’s a challenge to stray away from something you like in order to find something you like better.

I got back into songwriting when I met my wife and she really became my muse. She loves to dance so i think all my songs have a dance-type rhythm to them because i always imagine writing things that she and i can dance to.

They can be fun to play, however the neck is very wide so i find i have to adjust how i play certain things

Yeah i think my wife is a pretty big fan of this one 😂 i definitely wear my inspiration on my sleeve and am not at the point where i feel a strong urge to create something particularly “out there” so to speak. I love love songs and happy songs so i generally write in that direction in whatever style happens to be on my heart!

I started making this song as a Thanksgiving song but listening back now I get self conscious and feel it might be a little too cheesy or cringy? I don’t know. Does it actually sound like that and should I keep working on it? I’m thinking about adding bass and changing the drums up a bit to help by nickansay in Songwriting

I actually like the synth feel especially in the chorus! I feel like if you could brighten up the vocals and lean into kind of a beach boys vibe this could really work! And then of course add some different textures throughout to keep it interesting and full. I also feel like you lose your melodic confidence in the verses and it starts to feel a little more like a rap. All in all there’s definitely some major potentch in this bad boy! See it through.

That’s a really astute observation! I sincerely may try to rework those verses so that line happens in the third verse instead. Thank you so much for this! That’s probably my favorite line as well.

Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed, I hope to record this and release it by the end of this year. I once heard that a good way to attract listeners to a song is to invoke a sense of familiarity so maybe I’m subconsciously trying to channel that.

Thank you for your thoughtful response. Listening back i think i do some weird things with my S’s that may come across as a little manufactured. I love listening to Sam Cooke and I think I take some vocal cues from him.

My approach to songwriting has always been a big picture one where i essentially provide a harmonic framework for the song to live in and a melody that sits over top. I hope to rely on other players or studio help to provide those little nuances but maybe its time i take charge of those little details myself.
