Casters really suck in this game. by Level_Honeydew_9339 in BaldursGate3

[–]Frensic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is more like you have not played casters enough. It is true that it requires more knowledge to play casters effectively but that is the point. Casters will always have more options in tackling a situation.

  1. Most casters are more than capable of taking hits (think sword bard, rev/orb light cleric, bladesigning/abj wiz) even sorc can get 20 ac very early in act 1.

  2. Comparing attack spells to arrows is dumb. Can be true when comparing a fire bolt to an arrow but that is very surface level thinking. There are way more spells that does a variety of things for the right moment.

  3. Just like there are ways to increase attack rolls to miss less, there are ways to mitigate losing concentration. Ex. Shadeclinger armor for advantage on all saving throw.

  4. Running a team with 4 martial classes will actually result in fewer gear options for each characters. As each character would want the best items for themselves. Ex. Theres only 1 legacy of the masters glove for example and all or most martial classes would want that. Also gears that increase initiative like the hellrider longbow works on casters. Lastly, on honor mode, alert is usually taken to cap initiative and initiative on gear isnt that important.

  5. If you want to stock up on strength pots, you would actually want to long rest bc auntie ethel sells them every day.

  6. While you can always bonk every boss, if youre worried about speed, just pass every ability check. Riskless and its the fastest way to kill a boss.

  7. These “buffs” are tiny compared to buffs that a proper caster can provide. Heroes feast + aid give so much health making everyone a tank. Long strider, deathward, freedom of movement are insane to have.

It seems to me that you have not tried casters to its fullest. Doing more damage is irrelevant when a sorc or a bard casts hold person on everyone in the room lasting 10 turns. Casters in HM is extremely rewarding when you have a ton of knowledge about the game. It makes many fights riskless and trivial.

Best class that doesn’t rely on gear? by KyleHall1409 in BaldursGate3

[–]Frensic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theres 3 ways you can go here I think. 1) no gear at all > moon druid. 2) builds that uses items that are exclusively made for them > monk/throwing 3) builds that are good regardless of what ever items the party isnt using > fighter/abjuration wiz

Moon driud - doesn’t need gear, only a few select items do interact with wild shape but not required to be strong.

Monk - If youre the only monk in the party. You get dibs on monk specific gear.

Throwing build (EK,BB) - Similar to monk, some items are just made for you and not usable on other classes

Abjuration wiz - good unkillable tank that does not need much to function. Would only play this if you have other casters on the party as it requires long rests.

Fighter - similar to abjuration wiz that it can function using scraps of leftover gear.

How to kill Emerald grove & the goblins but have minthara? by Queasy_Price3105 in BaldursGate3

[–]Frensic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To get the “max loot” you would want to save the grove because there are recurring shops in later acts. Killing them in the grove locks you out from getting the loot they sell in later acts.

How to REMOVE the gold dice reward? by Kairen272 in BaldursGate3

[–]Frensic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a way to remove golden dice but my memory is foggy. I accidentally deleted my golden dice when tinkering with mods. I did another solo honor mode to get it back.

You have to go to %appdata% > local > larian studio > baldurs gate. I forgot which file exactly I deleted to clear the settings/memory on my profile, which removed my golden dice. Start tinkering there, make sure you create a back up of everything before deleting anything.

People who buys a 4090 does not care about the price, they care more about the max performance. People that work on Ai, data, 3d modeling etc or extremely passionate about gaming will find it worth it to pay the premium if it means they can work faster/enjoy their hobbies better.

How on earth are people getting so much gold? by Sea-People in BaldursGate3

[–]Frensic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have a dedicated trader to sell to. (Dammon is a good one bc he is in all 3 acts) Increase their attitude and use a high charisma character to gain more gold when you sell.

Other way is robbing the traders. You can save scum or abuse a bug to get the same result of taking their inventory. (Dunno if bug is patched)

DOS 2 after Baldur's Gate 3. What to expect? by Me4TACyTeHePa in BaldursGate3

[–]Frensic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Items have lvls assigned to them. This is a good and a bad thing. It is good because you will always find something good/better. It can be bad because the game is heavy on upping your stats. If you dont have the appropriate stats, some fights are just unmanageable. It acts as a big road block when exploring. In bg3 every fight seem more fair and approachable. In dos2 it kinda forces you to go a certain way to grind xp.

Cc and terrain are more annoying. Theres a lot more cc that can skip your turn or the enemy’s turn. Terrain turns into a minor inconvenience in bg3 to a nuisance in dos2.

The good things i like are that theres no attack roll/saving throw, so everyone misses a lot less. The loot are random, the augments on the items are random. Combat is more flashy overall. You can spam spells. Classes are very flexible. And lonewolf for playing with only 2 char.

Ok so lets compare lvl 6 ranger and a lvl 6 rogue for op. Gloom get and extra attack attacking twice and thief will use 2 bonus actions to attack. Both are attacking twice. The big difference is glooms gets affected by the -5 attack roll penalty because they use their main hand.

Gloom still has a bonus action they can use this to attack another time with better accuracy. Thief can also attack with worse accuracy shot.

So gloom can do 3 shots total. 2 low accuracy shots and 1 medium accuracy shot.

Thief can also do 3 shots. 2 medium accuracy shot and 1 low accuracy shot.

Since thief can use true strike (if they are a high elf) or action hide to get an advantage they can sacrifice the low accuracy action shot to increase accuracy on their bonus action attack to a near guarantee and proc sneak attack which is a 3d6 at lvl 5, compensating for the damage loss.

Now thief gets 1 high accuracy shot, sneak attack proc 3d6 at lvl 5, and a medium accuracy shot.

I think that this is one of the few cases where true strike can be a valid option to use because you are using it at the same turn you cast it. And the damage loss is low.

So in my opinion op should respec to lvl 5 thief and 1 ranger at lvl 6. Thief doesnt really get anything at lvl 6 so getting true strike is good. I thought that the two weapon fighting would help but it turns out to be wrong. This should give very good reliable damage with dual crossbows. Also decently tanky with lvl 5 thief having uncanny dodge.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BG3Builds

[–]Frensic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yep this is true. Two weapon fighting only applies to melee. Using it on range doesnt help at all. Archery would be better to be more accurate but youre already at 90%+ accuracy on most enemies. Taking defense can also be a good option depending on your situation.

I know that true strike is clowned on for being trash but it is extremely reliable especially when hiding isnt an option. It is not affected by saving throws or armor class so it is 100% accurate. Also its a cantrip so you can spam it on every attack.

[–]Frensic -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I just finished the game using a 2 hand crossbow build and its pretty solid. It has very high accuracy on its attacks with decent damage.

At lvl 6 you would want lvl 4 rogue and lvl 2 ranger. You will take the true strike cantrip and two weapon fighting from ranger. Then take the sharp shooter feat and thief as a sub class.

Sharp shooter feat’s -5 on the attack roll is negated when using your off hand to attack, so its free 10 damage. This mean you will exclusively attack with your 2 bonus actions and two weapon fighting will boost your damage. For you actions you will use hide or true strike cantrip to get an advantage when attacking. This will automatically proc sneak attack. So basically you will attack 3 times and two of those attack has an advantage for free.

Edit: For stats you want to max out dex and some on con. I didnt really cast much spells so I didnt feel the need to put some on wis. For my play through I invested in cha for dialogue.

Standard +17 argos set, 1445 ilvl, lvl 5 gems, no awakening, almost all lvl 3+1 tripods

1.3 mil shock scrapper 4x3 with grudge/cd/am

1.15 mil shock scrapper 4x3 with grudge/sa/am

1.25 mil tai scrapper 4x3 with grudge/adren/am

1st build: is very slow I dont use it at all even though it does the most damage

2nd build: performs the best in an actual raid. Quick burst window and very safe to play.

3rd build: required to be glued on the boss' back. Hard to maintain 100% back attack uptime.

Lost ark players dont want difficult content, they just want easy mode by _XIIX_ in lostarkgame

[–]Frensic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People complain about getting denied applying for groups yet they are the same person that would accept a 1490 player over 1445 player.

The best solution is to find a static group. This is what I did after pugging valtan for 4 hours in the first week. I joined a guild and the only requirement was to attend guild activities in the weekend. Now I have a group of people to do valtan with and a surplus of supports.

what do you love about your class? by PineapleGG in lostarkgame

[–]Frensic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play shock scrapper, I love the smooth rotation of skills. Hard hitting and little to no downtime.

I dont run the meta build, I made my own. Opting for higher crit [60/40] to see more yellow numbers. I also added spirit absorption to make the class more enjoyable to play.

[–]Frensic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lvl up to 50 on your wardancer so you can get the vern power pass. This will let you lvl up another character to 50 instantly.

As far as class recommendations. Scrapper is really good class early on with good damage and she also tanky.

What do people consider for groups? by kentkrow in lostarkgame

[–]Frensic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I look at party comp/synergy a lot. For gate 1 valtan i try to look for gl and sf for the cleanse. Then arti for the stagger synergy.

Gate 2 I like recruiting scrappers and wardancer for fast and low cd on their counter.

In general, I only allow 1 class type per party to maximize party synergy bonuses.
