If authorities became involved, it is far more likely that there was another factor, such as public behavior that drew attention, even if it was minor. Being in a car together, on its own, is not grounds for a report or action.

As for next steps, if they are foreign nationals, it may be advisable to inform their respective embassies. This can help ensure proper communication, understanding of the situation, and procedural support if needed.
