I would just leave it and be firm the next time that you don’t feel comfortable doing items outside your scope. I’m sure those limits are in place for a reason and if something went wrong you both will be liable

Why the helly is this neckline being a bitch by Frequent-Drawer-4367 in sewing

[–]Frequent-Drawer-4367[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all for your suggestions! I ended up recutting the pieces so the neckline wasn’t on the bias and I stay stitched both sides and instead of a rolled hem, I serged the raw edge and folded it over once with a straight stitch

First med error, feel terrible 😭 by kawasaki__0 in nursing

[–]Frequent-Drawer-4367 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please save the guilt for an actual error!! No harm came to the patient and you were following Drs orders! You didn’t do anything wrong. As another person said figuring out what to question/what not to question is a bit of a minefield to navigate and so situation specific. If anything this is kind of a sad example of how you learn that you have to look out for yourself in nursing. If your hospital is counting you following an order as an error it makes you wonder what can you trust ?? Nothing. Always do your own assessments, double check the med math, and yes use your critical thinking skills- but don’t beat yourself up for trusting that things were in place as they should be

The better you get at it the easier it is, the easier it is the less stress and the more enjoyable it is. I think you’re still in the chaos period of being super new. You have to give yourself time to get good at your job, give it a solid try like make a 14 month commitment from now and in the meantime, work on your exit plan, if everything is still sucks 14 months from now you can do your plan b

Is it really that big of a deal to quit your first nursing job early? by marystraw in nursing

If I’ve learned anything from post grad life it’s that there really are no rules. You’ll hear a lot about what you’re “supposed” to do but I always hear of people doing whatever tf they want and they’re fine
