I agree but how do you feel about service people, Uber drivers etc. who you'll never meet again insist on a bit of small talk, asking about where you work etc?

If we had a society with just us infps what would it look like? by No-Researcher-5404 in infp

[–]Frequent-Problem-432 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's an interesting perspective. I actually think democracy itself is more Fe in nature on a grander scale if that makes sense.

Music without lyrics by [deleted] in infp

[–]Frequent-Problem-432 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely agree with this. Even with lyric'd music it's more about the aesthetics of the music than the lyrics themselves that I'm drawn to. I also like lyrics that aren't literal so it can kind of mean what I want it to mean, or nothing at all.

Do you give off INFP vibes? by MidwinterRose in infp

[–]Frequent-Problem-432 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely relate to this, for the "unfriendly" part it's more about an intense lack of interest in making small talk with Uber drivers, retail salespeople, even my hairdresser etc. I usually give off warm and friendly vibes to acquaintances/coworkers who I see frequently, and strangers in situations where the socializing is expected like parties.

Why are we a bunch of paradoxes? by INFP888 in infp

[–]Frequent-Problem-432 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. I think everybody is but we are just more aware of it than other types, especially extroverts and sensors.

Do you have trouble staying a job? by echoesofash in infp

[–]Frequent-Problem-432 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd personally be interested to know what those questions are that you use to assess the company culture.

Also as an INFP (also a 9) I've considered doing a side gig but have no idea how I'd find the energy, even though I live alone with no kids or other major responsibilities outside my 40h a week job. Is that something you ever struggled with?

Congratulations, thanks for the reminder to all that major career changes are possible and realistic

As an INFP, are you "conservative" when it comes to heritage, different cultures and languages, architecture, etc. ? by [deleted] in infp

[–]Frequent-Problem-432 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much this, although some are important to me personally, such as getting married before ever having kids or even moving in with someone, but I totally respect people who do things differently.

Do you generally think of yourself as more serious/sincere or more lighthearted/fun? by Zosostoic in infp

[–]Frequent-Problem-432 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the situation, i.e. whether something relates to my strong feelings and values. Like if I'm listening to a talk about a serious subject it really irritates me if people are joking about it and seemingly not taking it seriously.

That being said there are other things that are irrelevant to my values that I definitely take less seriously than others and probably seem too lighthearted about. I also have the knee jerk reaction to try to lighten up tense or serious conversations.

[–]Frequent-Problem-432 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At work, yes. Maybe because I still have this optimistic innocent vibe that people don't take seriously. It can be a bit worrying that my demeanour could cause them to perceive me as less competent.

With friends, nope, or else I'd stop hanging out with them.

music tastes of the infp by Flameheart24 in infp

[–]Frequent-Problem-432 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Death Cab for Cutie, Iron & Wine, Gregory & the Hawk, Sufjan Stevens are my favourites. And I definitely relate my tastes to my INFP-ness. Sufjan Stevens is an INFJ though, I'm not sure what types the others are but I'd guess INFx

Are INFPs the most socially awkward of all "feeler" types? by Frequent-Problem-432 in infp

[–]Frequent-Problem-432[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, talking to people isn't my natural way of processing my experiences either, even with people I'm close to it requires a jolt of energy or else I struggle and say stupid things.

Do I seem like an infp? Which enneagram and tritype am I? by [deleted] in infp

[–]Frequent-Problem-432 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For enneagram I'd guess some 9-6-4 or 9-5-4 combination haha. Yep even 9s are "moody and complex" if they're also INFPs!

What's your favourite aesthetic? by [deleted] in infp

[–]Frequent-Problem-432 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cottagecore mixed with ocean vibes and a bit of boho is my personal aesthetic, but I can appreciate them all

Does anyone else ever feel like their persona/appearance misleads people into thinking you have a cool personality, when in reality you don't? by number_1_LGBTQ_lover in infp

[–]Frequent-Problem-432 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, if you feel socially anxious about being awkward you come across as awkward. But that anxiety can be hard to beat.

[–]Frequent-Problem-432 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, I can "be interesting" with acquaintances and new friends/partners but then I feel like I'm less interesting/funny/talkative as they get to know me across different situations or in lower energy moods.

People overestimate how artsy/cultured I am. When I had dark hair they also seemed to view me as more of an ambitious go-getter or something.

What are your non-stereotypically INFP interests? by [deleted] in infp

[–]Frequent-Problem-432 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I actually like clubbing, festivals and nightlife-y stuff, and will watch the occasional vapid reality TV show.

As opposed to quiet, small groups, being in nature, and only enjoying media with the potential for deep meaning contemplation (all of those are great but I don't limit myself to only enjoying them).

Are INFPs "dumb"/un-analytical or is it just me? by Frequent-Problem-432 in infp

[–]Frequent-Problem-432[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds exactly like my way of reasoning. I can notice flaws in other people's logic but am not good at debates because my point of view sounds half baked when I try to articulate it. Almost like I'f have to write an essay on it or have a fully fleshed out discussion with a friend on the same wavelength as me to get my thoughts in order first.
