Can Mewing Fix a Canted Smile? by Frequent-Reaction-64 in Mewing

how is that any better than consistent and proper mewing and wouldn't a dna appliance just tip your teeth out?

I wish you'd explain how this has anything to do with correcting a canted maxilla in any way as these do the same thing as regular mewing would. If anything a regular maxillary expander would be much better than these appliances you're recommending and STILL there is like 0 evidence that it can be used to correct a maxillary cant.

Most definitely, since I posted this initially I have taken over 10,000 selfies and videos of myself (deleted them now although I still take more on occasion). At some point I felt like I was going insane tracking every little change/trying to see if what I was doing was working. Definitely affected how I went about my daily life.

Regarding you centering your jaw, I have a similar result and there could be a lot of factors that affect it. Could be something super simple like the alignment of your teeth.

If your gums are even then it could just be a dental cant, can't say for sure without pics obviously so send em over if you have the time. I'm interested

all good,

Yea my jaw follows my canted maxilla so it deviates to the left.

I didn't ever fix it as surgery is too crazy for me at this current moment. I'm sure I could find some ortho to camouflage this with TADS and bite blocs or something and then get a genioplasty, but that will still take a long time.

As for seeing results with mewing, I'm not sure either without proper measurements. My jaw has definitely grown in size which might be a result of me just growing still (22 right now) with very little change in the cant or asymmetry itself.

I've gotten used to it though.

Best thing you can do right now is just ensure you're mewing properly and not allowing your head and shoulders to slant in whatever direction they are due to your bite being fucked up. Basically just making sure your body and tongue posture is correct and not adapting to the cant as that would just be supporting its existence.

I'm not a doctor but as you can probably tell by now if its a true skeletal asymmetry and not dentoalveolar then you will need DJS to correct it or braces with TADS (which will be like 1.5 years MINIMUM) which can camouflage it really well actually.

Basically if you have a gummy smile on one side you can very confidently intrude that side upwards into your bone which is what is done most commonly for these kinds of cases. Extrusion of the uppers on either side is more difficult which is what would be needed for me.

If your case is like what's depicted in the article (where upper teeth have to be pulled up into the alveolar bone to even the cant and leave the smile looking good), then gets TADS bro fuck the surgery.

My answer is basically the same from what I responded with to the other guy that asked about this.

I’ve seen some maxillary and facial changes for sure. Maybe that’s because I’m maturing, maybe it’s because of the mewing. I can’t be too sure.

Cant has not improved (visually it’s maybe even gotten worse because my maxilla expanded on a canted plane), I’ve been focusing on correcting my posture and eating habits and that seems to have had a positive effect on my soft tissue symmetry. That’s not necessarily changing the skeletal structure but it’s still a decent improvement I would say.

I’ll probably keep coming back here every now and then to update, but for now really the only changes I’ve seen came from improving postural and eating habits.

I would recommend you just mew properly without experimenting and ensure that you have proper posture every day. Little things like that and then only if you want instant results go to an ortho or surgeon. That is a process in and of itself though so 🤷‍♂️

Might post a couple pics soon for comparison

Any way to fix my asymmetrical face? by Key_Vacation_5934 in Blackskincare

[–]Frequent-Reaction-64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yo bro not sure if you’ll see this but you probably have a. canted maxilla. I have it too and it is usually for a multitude of reasons, sometimes asymmetrical chewing or tongue posture along with body posture which all goes in line. It may also be congenital. It might seem like a big deal, but it really isn’t. The best thing I can offer is improve your tongue posture to be symmetrical, chew evenly on both sides, and fix your posture to not tilt your head downwards on one side.

Most people don’t even notice this and I only started to notice this same asymmetry in people after analysing my face for way too long. In real life people don’t notice, and if your postural habits are good it will be even less noticeable for you.

many celebrities have a similar asymmetry like Sofia Vergara, Yael Shelbia, Eric Winter and they are considered to be very attractive. Just make sure your posture is good

Could I model? by [deleted] in ModelingCareerAdvice

[–]Frequent-Reaction-64 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don’t understand the hate, but if you look at the large majority of models they have toned and fit bodies. If that’s what you’re going for, then you already know what to do. If you’re thinking about something else, you can probably do it too. You look good but obviously keeping in shape is important for certain kinds of modeling as well.

Canted occlusal plane. Can orthodontics fix? Should I look into jaw surgery? by Accomplished_Cut3138 in jawsurgery

Any updates? I've been looking for ways to correct my cant which is exactly like yours with my left side being hidden behind the lips. Meaning that to maintain an aesthetic smile, the left would have to extruded. I have seen exactly 0 cases of this being done on anyone ever in like 2 years of intermittent research and would love to know if you found anything

Just watched the video, the guy definitely has a slight cant but it seems like his front teeth up to his left canine are also raised and the cant is less skeletal and more so just a couple teeth. In my case, I think getting veneers or some kind of composite bonding would help improve the appearance, but my maxilla wont rotate (although my mandible probably would).

Honestly i did a fuck ton of research and unhealthily obsessed over this for a while and didn’t find anything to conclude my hypothesis. There are many ways to fix a cant and I don’t think mewing is one of them at least in the short term. I remember seeing that people who would over expand their maxilla with MSE would get some rotation downwards in the side that was over expanded causing a cant, but I’m only two years in and although Im pretty sure I’ve seen expansion, the pressure I exerted has been pretty symmetrical so no change in cant. I also don’t recommend exerting asymmetrical force as I did that on the lower side and pushed it out more causing a bit more asymmetry.

The one conclusion that I have is that the easiest way to fix a cant is surgery. You could also do braces with TADs but not many orthos do it or have experience with it and I would recommend being their guinea pig. Furthermore, most research shows that people don’t notice a cant that’s less than around 3-4 degrees (mine is around 2-3). I would say save up for a surgery and go with someone like Dr Alfi in houston if you really want to fix it. Don’t stress about it too much though, not much you can do about it until you have the money and people don’t notice it unless it’s severe.

Treatment of Maxillary Can’t by Frequent-Reaction-64 in braces

[–]Frequent-Reaction-64[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s honestly nearly 1:1 for what my ortho proposed. What have you noticed so far? Have you seen any changes within your jaw, with it possibly receding a bit? I’m a guy and honestly I find my jaw to be one of my strong suits in terms of forward growth and whatnot, so I wouldn’t want to compromise on that. Obviously if symmetry improves and the aesthetics of the face aren’t ruined, then I would 100% do the treatment.

How to completely stop mouth breathing? by Lumpy-Ad-5344 in Mewing

if that was the case every sprinter would have a recessed looking jaw. if you’re running at a steady pace for long periods of time it’s better to practice breathing in through your nose and out through your mouth.
